Presents a case against execution and humanises the effects of a murderer's execution on his family. Follows the stories of how one man's death affected those arround him.

Its a bit over hyped to be honest, but its overall pretty good.

4/5

VHS : On Deadly Ground [1994]
This movie has a conservation message, namely that eco issues can be made extremely dull if allowed to pollute an action film. This lowers the quality of the flick, as fights are interspersed with a quick talk about how oil slicks damage the wilderness, which surprised me. I thought they were highly beneficial.

On the other hand, I haven't caused a single environmental catastrophe since watching this, so maybe it works!

OK, i understand that it pushes the racial boundaries and yes it is a bit far fetched and over dramatic in places but its a damn god film throughout!

The movie IS well orchestrated, slightly belivable but operates on so many different stages that its hard not to find something to enjoy. The mix of comedy, love, action, adventure and joy brings to gether a well balenced and heart wwarming movie for all the family.

and liv tyler well who needs to say more!

'The closer you look, the less you see', remarks the brilliantly Jewish lawyer in this film. Some have said the same about the typical Coen film script, but when it comes as multi-layered and intricate as this, as well as being shot in sublime film noir photography, who cares if the philosophy might not be as deep as it first appears? And every performance here is a delight, from the aforementioned sophisitic genius of a laywer who yet has to admit that this murder plot 'makes his head hurt', to the effortless beauty and charm of a teenage heartbreaker Scarlett Johansson. In fact, its hard to pick out any one above the others in this lovingly crafted work of genius, save perhaps for the magnificantly languid yet inwardly seething main character played to absolute ... Well, what can I say! This movie managed to win me around the second time I watched it. For me, Travolta gave the most remarkable performance as Jack Stanton. His acting was a mixture of dry humour and steely resilience in the face of some pinching obstacles. His attempt to impersonate Bill Clinton is clear for everyone to see. Perhaps, its the accent and the laugh that gives it away! It's really heart warming stuff but the issue at heart here is deadly serious and thought provoking. Yet, who exactly is one being forced to be serious about? Clinton or the other President's in American history who have gone through similar shame? I can't help but feel that this film ultimately redeems Clinton's actions in his private life. It also forces the question as to whether one ... Read More:

i havent cried so much since 'bridges of madison county', it really got to me this film, it was brilliantly acted and i could see the scenario, not so much the one night thing, but the aftermath being experienced in modern day society. How the characters changed and started to interact less with each other really upset me, You have to watch this film!!

8.U-Turn [1998] starring: Sean Penn, Jennifer Lopez, Nick Nolte, Powers Boothe, Claire Danes

VHS : U-Turn [1998]
Stone used such words as "liberating" and "fun" to talk about U Turn's relatively quick production schedule of 50 days. Oliver Stone crawls through Quentin Tarentino's home turf here in this grat 1988 movie. It is as black and violent as a film can be, sort of Pulp Fiction meets Reservoir Dogs in the heat. Brilliant casting makes U Turn sizzle like roadkill on an Arizona blacktop. Sean Penn, Jennifer Lopez, Billy Bob Thornton, and Nick Nolte, John Voight dig right to the heart of human darkness, and then some.....

Surely many viewers will find the level of violence (Nick Nolte - "Let him watch") and the completely depraved characters unappealing at best--my ex-girlfriend walked away less than halfway through this classic 1988 movie. Did i mention the fat cow ... Read More:

VHS : The Alamo [2004]
2004's The Alamo is one of the most undeserved flops of recent years (and possibly inflation-adjusted as big a disaster as Heaven's Gate). Bad timing may account or some of it, as America's image went from besieged victims to bloody aggressors (certainly it was barely even released outside the US), but the film's sombre, mournful tone is probably more to blame - beginning with the dead bodies of the defeated defenders, there's a sadness and inevitability to the film that's the complete antithesis of the feelgood destruction-and-revenge of Pearl Harbor. Even Carter Burwell's haunting low-key score is more a lament than the broad action scoring you might expect. The script is well crafted, the characterisation surprisingly strong and the comparative absence of cgi pays dividends ... Read More:
