VHS : Anchors Aweigh [1945]
With this being the film that launched Frank Sinatra to major things for MGM, this proves to be a great classic musical that hits all the right spots. Gene Kelly and Frank Sinatra play two sailors on shore leave and who both fall for the same woman. Cue some great song and dance numbers by the pair, together and apart. Kathryn Grayson is also excellent as the female lead with also some great songs to sing. Also, watch out for the much celebrated sequence with Gene Kelly partnering Jerry the mouse (from Tom & Jerry). All in all, an excellent film.

VHS : The Rescuers Down Under (Disney) [1991]
This sequel to the rescuers was something special to disney, as this is the first sequal of feature animation to also become a feature. This is currently the only sequel to date to become a feature; this shows disney had great expectations and faith in this film.

This film has a similar story style to the original film, where a kid gets captured and its up to the rescue aid society to come to the rescue. The character cast in this film is amazing, and the animators do an incredible job at portraying emotion and expression through them.

This film also, as many may not know, include disney first 3d visual effects in 2d animation. There is a flying sequence at the start which is actually 3D which at the time of release was breathtaking, ... Read More:

VHS : Scooby Doo On Zombie Island [1998]
Zoiks! It's true, following in the footsteps of scream and the new trend for rule-breaking horror, comes Scooby Doo! The film is set a few years after the rest of the (original!) Scooby Gang went their seperate ways, taking on new jobs and getting non-spooky jobs. The interesting thing is the new ways the script twists and bends the familiar Scooby Doo themes and plots, and then pushes out in new directions. I was even afraid for some of the characters, and I'm 26! Thankfully, there's not a hint of Scrappy Doo, he seems to have disappeared into some monster, as no mention is made of the annoying dog ;) I don't want to spoil any of it, so I'm trying to reveal as little as possible, suffice to say, adults might want to stick around after dumping this video in front ... VHS : Laurel And Hardy - No. 26 - Country Hospital / Them Thar Hills / Tit For Tat
Three classic comedy capers with Stan & Ollie, County Hospital (1932), Them Thar Hills (1934) and Tit For Tat (1935). I must say, this is a very fine collection with first-released format in the titling.
County Hospital's funniest bit of action is when Stan lifts up a Pendulum and Ollie's foot comes down. The Doctor (Billy Gilbert) tries to grab it from him, but falls out the window (and you can imagine about Ollie!).
Them Thar Hills and Tit For Tat both feature quarrels with Charlie Hall. Tit For Tat is 50% funnier though, especially the bit when Stan & Ollie dump a Can of 'Rex Pure Lard' upside-down on Charlie Hall (with the lid off.
This is not to be missed.

VHS : One Hundred Men And A Girl [1937]
Lovely Deanna Durbin is the young girl whose father, the ever-touching Adolphe Menjou, is a trombone player out of a job, and in order to make her dream of a whole symphony orchestra consisting of unemployed musicians come true, Durbin has to enlist the services of famous maestro Leopold Stokowski in order to get financial backing. But how does she go about it?

A delightful, sweet movie, the ultimate Depression daydream, and you will need your Kleenex for the wrap-up. God knows, Frank Capra did the same stuff with a lot more style, but 'One Hundred Men and a Girl' has enthusiasm, guts and is very well, albeit conventionally made and edited. It must have given a lot of people of lot of, admittedly, pretty phoney hope.
