VHS : Hard Times [1994]
watching this adaptation was like flicking through the book and picking out a few choice sentences-you cannot expect to successfully represent a dickens novel in 100 minutes so why even try? beatie edneys attempt to portray louisa gradgrinds cold nature was to frown at every given moment, whilst patsy byrnes role was almost comical in a novel where few laughs are found.this was originally meant for showing in schools but is more likely to put the viewer off reading dickens rather than encourage it!

VHS : Miracle Maker [2000]
Most Christian films do not inspire me. But I do love the Visual Bible Gospel of John and The Miracle Maker. The device of telling Jesus' story through the eyes of Tamara, the daughter of Jairus whom Jesus raised to life [and who just happens to have been a witness to many of the key events in the life of Jesus] is a clever one, which should appeal to young people and also older folk.

The film gave me great joy as I saw Jesus through the eyes of this little girl.

Anne Dudley [composer of music for The Full Monty and many other great films, which I haven't seen ...] does a terrific job with the music, and I enjoyed the way the Russian dolls were used for the characters in this story.

I also like the scene ... Read More:

Jurassic Park is a brilliant film. The acting is brilliant, the characters are brilliant, the storyline is brilliant, and of course, the dinosaurs are so real, I was amazed when I first saw
this film when I was little, and now I'm 14, writing this now.
We see a host of dinosaurs:Brachiosaurus,Triceratops, Gallimimus,Dilophosaurus,Velociraptor, and Tyrannosaurus Rex.
Tyrannosaurus Rex is the king in this film. It's the most fierce
creature we see.Everyone in the world shouls watch this film, they'll like it. A truly brilliant film.

VHS : Edge Of Darkness - Part 2 [1985]
Bob Pecks gripping performance in Edge of Darkness has stayed in my mind ever since it was first broadcast. I have always been transfixed and absorbed by this powerful story. From the pen of Troy Kennedy Martin, the genius direction of Martin Campbell, the Cinematographic magic of Andrew Dunn and the haunting inevitability depicted in the music score by Michael Kamen and Eric Clapton. I watched the repeats and now bought the DVD set. This set new standards for stylish and gritty British Drama. How terribly sad that Bob Peck is no longer with us. With equally brilliant performances from all cast including Jo Don Baker, Charles Kay, John Woodvine and Zoe Wanamaker, It will be watched time and again in years to come and still have the same impact.

VHS : Surviving Picasso [1997]
I found this a highly dissapointing film in that it seemes to focus almost entirely on the misogynistic side of Picasso`s personality, and his selfish insensitivity towards others. While these aspects of Picasso no doubt existed, the film fails to portray a rounded depiction of the man or what drove him. This very one-dimentional and oblique angled view is no doubt due to the fact that the film is based on the memoires of his disillusioned wife, and I am reminded of the book written by Deborah Curtis about her husband the singer Ian Curtis, in which she whines on about the domestic reality of their relationship but offers virtually no insight into his art - which was surely the most interesting thing about him. The problem is that the relationships which these women have with ... Read More:
