We waited a long time for this and the major feeling was of huge dissapointment. Having given it a good 5 or 6 years Im currently giving it another go and I have to say, the main weakness is that it looks like a cartoon. Can someone explain to me why if in 1977 George Lucas could afford to fly to Tunisia and other "real" locations he couldn't have done that 20 years later? I mean, imagine how great this could have looked with NO CGI!? It may have been fairly good. I take it Lucas is either too lazy and unnspired or has no idea what his loyal fanbase ... Read More:

This is one of the very few films about the Jacobite rebellion of 1745 and so is to be welcomed for that. The film has many virtues, but could have been better.

Firstly there is no romanticism as most of the ordinary Scots shown here are either apathetic to the Jacobite cause or hostile to it, save for a single enthusiast. We also see alllegedly pro-government Scots wondering if they should show some support to the Jacobites as they might win.

The Jacobite forces prior to Culloden are noted as lacking suppleis, which is accurate.

The battle scene at Culloden is well done, but there were no cavalrymen, presumably due to budgetary considerations. Even so, this is a loss, for the regular cavalry played a key role ... Read More:

I had the original videos for years. Read the books by Robert Graves until the covers fell off. Five stars apart from BB What a ham. He lets his generation down and should never have been included in the cast. The rest of the cast are jewels of their age not so BB Glad to see he is no longer heard of.Up Pompei would have loved him

Everything is better at christmas time. I don't know why, but it is. Watch this in the March, or even November, and it will be one of the least enjoyable experiences ever. Watch it in December however and it'll make you cry. Simply wonderful.

This was published by Pocket Money Video, a Braveworld imprint; the animation is 1st class, and the cast list would grace a really top-flight movie for grown-ups! Plus the cast obviously enjoyed making the film... It's a glorious, rollicking spoof of the James Bond school of spy thriller, featuringamong others a six foot tall frog, on secondment to MI5, and the Loch Ness Monster. Enjoy- I know I have...
