VHS : Magic [1978]
Anthony Hopkins stars as Corky, a ventriloquist/magician with a pathological fear of failure. When his life starts to become surreal, he looks up the girl he secretly loved in high school, Peggy (played by Ann-Margaret), and, with the help of his wiseguy dummy, Fats, sparks fly between them. Merideth plays his agent who discovers that Corky thinks Fats is real, thus setting off a chain of events that includes murder.

Anthony Hopkins is utterly convincing as the fearful and hallucinating ventriloquist. He is so jumpy and intense, and he suffers so deeply from his fears, that you will be on the edge of your seat. Hopkins' manic performance is dynamite; he will break your heart and send chills up your spine. He does a good job with ... Read More:

VHS : The Sentinel [1977]
I am just about to buy the video of this film, as I haven't seen it for years, yet it still haunts me. It was a fave creepy book of mine in my teenage years, and although the film didn't quite live up to the book (what film does?)it is still a film with real menace, a stunning plot, and a truly shocking denouement. A forgotten classic that deserves to be on a par with films such as "The Omen" and "Rosemary's Baby".

3.Golden Needles (1974) starring: Joe Don Baker, Elizabeth Ashley, Ann Sothern, Jim Kelly, Burgess Meredith

VHS : MacKenna's Gold [1969]
I first saw this film at the cinema in 1970 and 37 years later it is just as good. A fist full of great actors and a story that everyone dreams about is the ideal recipe for one of the best movies of the era. The plot is simple... pure, naked greed... the story of the lost Adams, the canyon del oro, the hidden mine of Inca gold etc.
It all makes for a fabulous adventure in the mould of the classic Saturday Matinee that left thousands of movie goers breathless.
Yes Indiana! this is where you found your inspiration.

VHS : Advise And Consent [1962]
If you're interested in how American politics works or doesn't, see this movie now. What a knock-out depressing, inspiring, convoluted, messed up, brilliant piece of work this Otto Preminger film is. Charles Laughton steals the show (his last performance?) as a sleazy southern senator. You won't believe the machinations these people perform in Washington. And while this movie was made decades ago, it's still has so much truth in it today--people set up to be scapegoats, corruption, politics like you've never see it before.

True, this is sometimes touted as a "gay" film because of the one senator who is blackmailed, though is at least bisexual, but the film is more about how the American system is put together.

A frightening, ... Read More:

VHS : Batman (The Movie) [1966]
There is very little I can add to the many favourable reviews this classic Dynamic Duo adventure has already received here on Amazon. This is the Batman I remember from my early teens, and will always be the real thing as far as I'm concerned!

Unless I have missed it, none of the other reviewers have mentioned the sad fact that when it comes to Adam West and Burt Ward this film is pretty much it! No sign of any of the 120 TV episodes on DVD is to be found here, or even in the U.S., nor any mention of why that might be.

The simple explanation seems to be the fact that Warner Brothers own the rights to the Batman characters whilst Fox own the actual programmes themselves! Various websites give a more detailed explanation, but it would appear ... Read More:
