VHS : Carousel [1956]
Regarded by many as the best Rodgers and Hammerstein musical, it still manages to pack a punch after all these years. Most people will probably already be familiar with the hymn-like standard 'You'll Never Walk Alone', but there are plenty of other gems here that are worth tuning in for. Fans of Frank Sinatra may recognise Billy's 'Soliloquy'. The scene on the beach where Gordon McRae belts it out is now a movie musicals' classic. My personal favourite is the beautifully tender duet 'If I Loved You', a song so loaded with the promise of romance and deeply felt regret all at the same time - surely (or Shirley??) one of the best love songs in any Broadway repertoire.
Another of the musical's high points comes with the opening 'Carousel ... Read More:

VHS : The Tomb [1985]
If you our buying this film on the fact that Sybil danning is titled as a lead cast member then you will be sorely disappointed she is in it for about 3 mins a bad gun fight and that’s it gorgeous woman why she didn’t play a main part when they clearly used her name on the cover implying that she was the film it self is typical of the time mid eighties bad effects rushed story
I would not recommend it.

4.Hombre [1966] starring: Paul Newman, Fredric March, Richard Boone, Diane Cilento, Cameron Mitchell

VHS : Hombre [1966]
I saw this film first in 1967, and many, many times since, and westerns just don't get better than this. Paul Newman is at his very best, Richard Boone is at his very nastiest (and best), the humour is, like Cool Hand Luke, subtle and funny. If all that is not enough, there is a real story behind it, and the good guy doesn't win. Just like life
What a shame we cannot get it in PAL format

VHS : The Professionals - Close Quarters / Everest Was Also Conquered / Klansman
The Klansman is pure White trash, with only a few hints at the more intriguing picture that Sam Fuller wanted to make before the producers went down the drive-in exploitation route and replaced him with Terence Young. Lee Marvin is reliably solid as the compromising sheriff, David Huddleston is a long way from Santa Claus as the local Grand Exalted Cyclops (and bank manager), but a drunk-as-a-skunk Richard Burton wiyav tha furni-assed Sowthun assent thess sigh-ed ov Cardiff is a sad sight as he shuffles from scene to scene as if barely aware he's in a movie. But then he'd probably have to have been blind drunk to have signed on to this one. Sample dialog: "Ay heyah he don' even hayav a teevee. He mus' be a commoonist!" But then, what else can you expect from ... Read More:

VHS : Hedwig And The Angry Inch [2001]
This movie is a musical, there is no denying that. It is an adaptation from an original off-broadway show which had some, but not great, critical success. Versions of it have been staged all over the world, albeit in small - sometimes amateur theatres. If muscials are your type of thing then great, but even if they aren't, this movie has so much more. It has a real heart.

If you are looking for a movie about decency, humour, love and sacrifice - then look no further. This movie has to be one of my favourites of all time. The songs in it are not just musical numbers. They move the piece forward and give us insight into Hedwig's past and present feelings. They stand extreamely well on their own, but when placed into this medium of a fantastic story, ...
