VHS : Eraserhead [1976]
Why use a lot of words to describe a motion picture that visualizes the subconscious? Suffice it to say that this is still David Lynch's best. An oneiric odyssey, the sort of troubling, never-ending dream one can have when suffering from a high fever, in which the most bizarre and seemingly hopeless situations nearly drive one to despair. So far, I've never seen another film evoking that sort of atmosphere so well. Strange yet familiar. Archetypal. ERASERHEAD is a unique work of art, a milestone in cinema. Don't try to understand or explain this film, open up your mind and simply undergo it, visit the dream world while being awake. An exceptional experience.

VHS : Whatever Happened To Harold Smith ? [2000]
What a pleasant surprise! A truly funny British film with some great acting - even from Lulu. Just buy/rent it and watch it - you'll not regret it. It certainly is up there with Four Weddings and a Funeral.

VHS : D'Artagnan's Daughter [1995]
La Fille de D'Artagnan was a success in Europe but never got much of a release in the U.S. When the American DVD came out it had a new name, Revenge of the Musketeers. Too bad more people didn't see it. It's a great swashbuckling movie with lots of sword play, shrewd comedy, a clever story and fine acting.

It's the mid-Seventeenth Century in France. Eloise D'Artagnan (Sophie Marceau) is a young woman being educated in a convent when it is attacked and the mother superior killed. She learns there is a plot afoot, vows revenge and sets off to Paris to find her father (Philippe Noiret) and to reunite him with Athos, Aramis and Porthos. The plot thickens as they find not only evil noblemen and a cruel lady in red but that the 16-year-old king ... Read More:

VHS : Harriet The Spy [1997]
This wonderful childrens film is all about a young girl called Harriet, whos ambition to be a writer, and in preperation for this, she writes downeverything she sees in her notebook. However, when this falls into thewrong hands, things go terribly wrong for Harriet and she is left with nofriends apart from her nanny.
This is a pretty good film really. The storyline is good, the scripts ok,even the acting is not bad, especially for saying how old the children inthe film are. Notice Vanessa Lee Chester who plays Becky the servant girlin 'A Little Princess'.
Overall a nice film for children which is clean and may even teach them afew lessons about friendships and how to keep them. Buy this if you havekids but otherwise save your money.

VHS : Stardust Memories [1980]

Stardust Memories had obvious been the choice of pet project that Allen wanted United Artists to release instead of Manhattan, where he felt uncomfortable when a tried and tested approach to showcasing his character having a relationship with a young, mature girl underage, was not the right way to go for his reputation. Allen hated Manhattan and made no secret of it with the dealing of this main theme, he was discontent of such vile.

Hence this came along, unlike Manhattan, Stardust Memories is relaxing, often confusing, bizarre and impressive, you feel drawn into the whole persona, of a man who just wants to understand who he really is, is it him that is the fault, his own personality or his awareness of the poor being neglected by ... Awful awful film. This is only for real cinema buffs with a lot of time on their hands. I have made attempts to grow an appreciation of this type of film but would rather watch the snooker and/or paint dry than have to watch this film again.

VHS : Love Story [1971]
The best film i've ever seen, and i've seen alot of films. The first time i watched Love Story was just a couple of months ago, and for me it's simplicity is the key to it's beauty, such a simple story line told in such a way, that it evokes an emotion so strong it could break the heart of the coldest demon. It tells the story of Oliver Barrett IV and Jenny cavelleri as two students, one from an extremely wealthy background, and the other from rather pooer background, and the story shows love discriminates against nothing, it shows that when two human souls connect nothing can keep them apart. They meet at college, fall in love and marry, but the film takes a heartbreaking turn, Jenny is ill, dying in fact, oliver is destroyed. That's the film in a nutshell, sounds ... Read More:

Thisn Island Earth has to have the greatest alien creature of the whole 50's sci-fi era, which is....the Metaluna Mutant! I remember watching a sci-fi clip show when I was about six, and seeing the mutant straight after a clip of a man eating pizza, I still love it now.
