VHS : Stephen King's The Tommyknockers [1993]
Being a huge King fan I was delighted that they chose to bring The Kommyknockers to the screen. In my opinion (who else :P ) the character casting is magnificent. Gard, played by Jimmy Smits, captures the books characterization perfectly as does Marg Helgenberger portraying Bobbi Anderson. My only dissappointment (and it's a large one, hence the missing 5th star) is that, presumably, the budget was insufficient to run to accurately depicting the excavation of the space craft. Instead, a sad arrangement of glowing cubes has to suffice in place of the gigantuan saucer, which is a pity, as this constitutes no small element of the novel.

VHS : Glory [1990]
A rousing story about a black platoon facing prejudice and annilation during the American civil war. Matthew Broderick's finest performance as the leader of the first all black regiment fighting the confederates and racism from their own Union army. Supported by the fine Morgan Freeman and Denzel Washington. The plight of these brave men will emotionally move you, possibly to tears, although mine was more of a controlled welling, though my lower lip did quiver when the credits rolled.

3.Reckless [1983] starring: Aidan Quinn, Daryl Hannah, Kenneth McMillan, Cliff De Young, Lois Smith

Can't quite believe the other reviewer was watching the same film. The songs in this one are far superior to the ones in Rocky, I would go so far as to say that this is the best of the 2. Plot is fairly straight-forward, and Brad and Janet are played by 2 far superior actor/singers.

Not actually seen the DVD version but have a VHS of this. Don't quite understand why this flopped, but it is well worth a watch, and should be more readily available on it's own.

The story is about three auto workers (Pryor, Keitel, Kotto) on the assembly line in the late '70s. When debts catch up to all three (IRS audit for Pryor, kids braces for Keitel, and partying too hard for Kotto) they are becoming desperate. Knowing full well their union is corrupt, they feel no remorse for attempting a robbery on the union offices to come up with enough cash to just make ends meet. All these three expect to get from the robbery is a couple thousand bucks each rather than the huge sums movies always use as a motivator today. But they get in way over their heads when they find more than they're looking ... Read More:
