VHS : A Bug's Life [1999]
Some people consider "Bug's Life" as not being on the same level of quality as other Pixar productions, but I really can not agree with them. My daughter clearly wouldn't agree either. This is a very funny movie, with a lot of interesting innovations (we will never look at bugs in the same way, me and my family) and a kind of surprising kindness - even the bad guys are shown with some understanding (having chosen the life of parasite racketeers, they are now trapped by it - as much as their ant victims). The principal hero is possibly one of the most likeable characters I ever saw. A little warning - there is one scene at the end, of the final demise of the leader of grasshoppers, that can impress the littlest children (under 6) - otherwise ... Read More:

VHS : Wolf [1994]
The opening sequences are beautifully filmed, and the moon and snow look gorgeous. The plot made sense, despite a few quibbles. I doubt anyone could really have found out that much information about animal possession in such a short time. Plus, I really think Laura should wear a hard hat when her horse is going faster than a walk.

It took a bit of mental gymnastics for me to work out that Jack Nicholson was actually playing a good guy. Prunella Scales has a cameo (in a memorable outfit) and David Schwimmer has a bit part. Michelle Pfeiffer conveys not just Laura's self-possession, but also the bleakness of her existence. Near the end, she portrays Laura's strength and confidence very effectively.

However, my favourite ... Read More:

Tom Hanks (Big) stars as Sam, a single parent. A year after losing his wife, he is struggling with the loss and to help him, his son Jonah phones a radio station to ask for advice, and Annie from Baltimore hears and knows she must meet up with Sam.

Filled with plenty of romantic conventions, Nora Ephron's 1993 romantic drama creates a light hearted feel good film, with funny and dramatic moments for viewers of all ages.

Tom Hanks and Meg Ryan (When Harry met Sally), in their first collaboration, are perfect in their respective role, especially Ryan who is very funny, where as Hanks takes the more serious roles, which he is always perfect at.

But the actor who steals the show is Ross Maligner, who is exceptional as Sam's son ... Read More:

Another fantastic performance from Robin Williams, and the rest of the cast make excellent appearances too. The plot is strong, the effects are marvellous still, and the directing still leaves you feeling quite emotional at the end. There are some fantastic moments that are clever and indeed well done, but its the strong plot for me that makes the movie. A true classic film for the family!

Superb. There have been very few movies that I can say, hand on heart, that have ever touched a nerve with me, but this is one. If anyone but Williams and Bridges had played these roles, the film would have dragged on and on. Bridges is excellent as the ex shock jock, trying to make some restitution for the consequences of his 'actions'. Williams should be given some kind of Knighthood - the man is flawless as he tries to claw his way out of his personal madness, his grief and guilt. The support cast are pretty fine, too. Excuisite.

What a fantastic collection. Before buying these videos, I watched and liked Frasier but was not a real fanatic. These videos changed that. Volume 1 gives you the first 2 episodes, allowing you to revisit the hilarious antics when Martin moves in and, of course, the arrival of Daphne. Plus, the only video that lets you see the return of both Lilith and Diane. The second and third volumes are equally as ingenious. This is one that can only be recommended because there are few faults. A must!!!!!!!
