VHS : Truly, Madly, Deeply [1992]
This remains one of my favourite films of all time, humorous, at times upsetting, thought provoking, sensitive, intelligent. Well cast, great script - I defy anyone to be disappointed after watching it.

VHS : The End Of The Affair [1999]
This is a powerful adaptation of the Graham Greene novel. Ralph Fiennes is on form as the obsessive lover of the married Julianne Moore. The love scenes are beautifully filmed yet have a raw sexual energy. The narrative structure is a perfect compliment to that of the book, and this film acts as a apt cinematic companion to the tale of obsession, jealousy and love.

VHS : Me Without You [2001]
This 2001 film from British director Sandra Goldbacher is a coming-of-age story about intense female teenage bonds and what happens to them on the road to adulthood. Marina (a splendid Anna Friel) and Holly (Michelle Williams) are in young years already fervently loyal best friends who live next door to each other. Perhaps as a reaction to this over-intensity and partly due to different parental backgrounds, their personalities develop into near opposites: Marina is a self-consciously wild party-girl and eclectic dresser who dabbles with heroin and casual sex, whilst Holly is a Sylvia Plath reading intellectual, a steadier, introverted being who feels mousy and unsexy (her domineering mother is shown telling her "There are pretty people, and there are ... VHS : Jane Eyre [1997]
I know this isn't faithful to the book but it's by far my favourite adaptation of this classic by Charlotte Bronte. Ciaran Hinds is utterly mesmerising as the tortured Edward Rochester and the scenes between him and Jane are captivating. I've watched it over and over and over and love it more every time! Thoroughly recommended if you like a good love story!

VHS : Heat Of The Sun [1998]
"Heat of the Sun" is one of those mystery period-pieces that I wanted to go on and on, and, alas, it ended too soon. One suspects that cost had something to do with its sudden demise, given the African settings and the exotic thirties' costumes.

"Heat of the Sun" is the perfect series to watch on a cold winter night. Trevor Eve makes an excellent Scotland-Yard-detective-in-exile and Susanna Harker is lovely as the young aviatrix. The mysteries are excellent, the characters are fascinating, the settings are magnificent, and--Oh happy day!--Diana Rigg is still on hand as presenter (in the PBS edition) to tell us about Colonial life in Kenya's "Happy Valley" and the notorious Muthaiga club.

"Mystery" simply isn't the same without her!

7.Heat Of The Sun - Episode 2 - Hide In Plain Sight [1998] starring: Trevor Eve, Susannah Harker, Akbar Kurtha, Quinton Gasa, Jonathan Firth
directed by: Adrian Shergold, Paul Seed, Diarmuid Lawrence

VHS : The End of the Affair [2000]
A superbly written and acted, moving account of love, passion and ultimate sacrifice and heartache. I was captivated by this accomplished cinematic interpretation of Graham Greene's novel so beautifully portrayed and characterised..............one of the few films for which i shall never tire.
