VHS : Death Wish 3 [1985]
Kersey heads back to New York City to visit an old friend of his. Before he arrives there though Charlie (Bronson's friend) is attacked by the gang who dominates that area. He dies in Kersey's arms and Kersey is arrested for the murder. The ambitious police chief (good acting by Ed Lauter) releases him though, to sort of infiltrate the area and point out who to arrest. But when the violence in town gets too much, Kersey takes the matter into his own hands once again. And while he starts blowing away punk by punk, the other citizens cheer and begin doing the same. Soon a civil war is waged in NYC to take out the trash.

It is nice to see that the makers of Death Wish 3 tried to go a different way this time, rather than to make a carbon ... Read More:

I am just about to buy the video of this film, as I haven't seen it for years, yet it still haunts me. It was a fave creepy book of mine in my teenage years, and although the film didn't quite live up to the book (what film does?)it is still a film with real menace, a stunning plot, and a truly shocking denouement. A forgotten classic that deserves to be on a par with films such as "The Omen" and "Rosemary's Baby".

VHS : Sparkling Cyanide [1989]
This ' adaptation ' bears little resemblance to the novel . The book keeps you on the edge of your seat with captivating twists & turns . The TV movie is rather like mediocre soap opera . If Agatha Christie had written an episode of Dallas then it would have been like this . I have long maintained that given the fact that there was a Poirot short story with a similar plot line called The Yellow Iris then the solution was obvious . They could have written out Colonel Race & brought in Captain Hasting's ( they excluded Mr Satterwaite from Murder In Three Acts on that basis ) and brought in Poirot . In short they could have used Poirot & Hastings , stuck to the basic story line of Sparkling Cyanide and called the TV movie The Yellow Iris . The actors ... Read More:
