VHS : The Kentuckian [1955]
This 1955 film is the only movie that Burt Lancaster ever directed. Set in the early 19th century its the story of a recent widow father and his son's journey towards Texas. Off course lots of things will happen along the way but the movie really works as a piece of nostalgic americana. The suporting cast is very good and we can see Walter Matthau in his film debut. The dvd edition has no extras but offers a good print of the film in his original widescreen aspect ratio with clear mono sound. Since the price is so good and theres not many chances this film will ever guet a special edition buy it before it goes out of print.

VHS : Extremities [1986]
"Extremities" is almost like a filmed play, with a marvelous 4-person cast, and it keeps one's interest even though most of the action takes place in 2 rooms of a small house. This very low budget production may have many flaws, but it is at times riveting viewing. Farrah Fawcett followed her critically acclaimed "The Burning Bed" with this film, and once again proved that she was much more than a "Charlie's Angels" pin-up. Along with Fawcett, James Russo is Joe, a truly creepy villain, and Alfre Woodard and Diana Scarwid are both terrific as Fawcett's housemates. Woodard is one of Hollywood's most beautiful and underrated actresses, and gives yet another wonderful performance, and Scarwid is very moving as she tells her personal history, and ... Read More:

VHS : Baby Love [1968]
So often dismissed as the movie in which the under age Linda Hayden took of her clothes, there is much more to this movie than that. It is a thoughtful, and surprisingly provocative movie which is well acted and written. It is a dream of a debut for the fifteen year old starlet, and it is a shame that she seemed to be typecast as the siren in movies such as the Hammer horrors ever since. Linda plays a teen whose mother (Diana Dors) has committed suicide, her last request being for a former lover to take care of her daughter. And so Ms Hayden moves from a dysfunctional working-class home to a dysfunctional middle-class one. The interest lies in how she acts as a catalyst on the repressed sexual urges of the new family, and how she herself ... Read More:
