VHS : The Camomile Lawn [1992]
In this war time drama everybody seems to be doing it - and I don't mean their bit for King and country. Sometimes the events of World War II appear to be used as mere padding for a series of gratuitous sex scenes. This otherwise good war time drama would be considerably improved by the removal of some of the unnecessary breasts and bare bottoms.
"Oh Max, the weather was simply beautiful during the fall of France - let's have sex!!"

VHS : The Good Life - Series 4 - Episodes 5 To 7 - Plus The Royal Special
This video includes Suit Yourself, Sweet and Sour Charity, Anniversary, and the Royal Command Performance (also called When I'm 64).

The first three episodes listed are from the final series and are some of the best shows. Suit Yourself has Tom and Barbara turning fleeces into clothing (or something like clothing) and Jerry competing furiously for Sir's job. Sweet and Sour Charity features Margo deciding whether to take the lead role in the Music Society's production of Sweet Charity, a play she detests, or to stick to her principles and sit it out. Meanwhile, Tom and Barbara debate over whether to take the leftover heating oil from next door. In Anniversary, Sir has decided who will replace him when he retires. Will it be Jerry or the loathesome ... Read More:

VHS : The Good Life - Backs To The Wall [1975]
The Good Life is a classic comedy series and these are three of its best episodes ("Backs to the Wall", "Silly, But it's Fun" and "The Wind Break War"). If you don't want to invest in a whole series, but would like to watch some of "The Good Life"'s best episodes then this video is for you.

The show is guaranteed to cheer you up and have you howling with laughter, whatever your age. Even some children will enjoy watching Margo, the eternal snob coming to terms with the Good's make do and mend Christmas, cheeky but suddenly serious Tom's over the top outrage at Margo's plans for a windbreak and Barbara's woeful attempt at bringing in the harvest in a storm.

Overall, great fun for all the family and one to watch over and over again.

For everyone who lived through the original transmissions, or watches it on the various repeats, this has to be a must buy. All the favourite moments are there, some of which have passed into our everyday language. A definite comedy classic, and one that has to be savoured like a fine wine, particularly when measured against today's sitcoms.

this is a fim the children will love, with a foot tapping song to sing along with. As with most childrens films it also says "if you behave like this then bad things happen but if you mend your ways it all comes out alright in the end." enjoyable

When I first saw this adaptation for TV in the 1980s, I thought it was a fantastic recreation of M M Kaye's epic story of Anjuli and Ash which I had read some years previously. However, having recently reread the book, and followed it up with this DVD, I have to admit that this time round it fell well short of my expectations.

My first gripe is that the story has been changed quite a lot, so that first quarter of the book, dealing with Ash's early life, is covered in the opening credits plus a couple of flashbacks. Additionally, instead of keeping his background quiet, Ash now spouts off about it to virtually everyone he meets, which changes his character somewhat. And thirdly, the book has the Afghan war as the final scene, whereas this film uses ... Read More:
