VHS : The Burbs [1989]
If you have the appropriate sense of humour, you will laugh at this film forever. It carries more character quotes than any other film I can remember, like Bruce Dern's "Where you going Pinocchio", Corey Feldman's "No tan-lines today" or Tom Hanks " Who keeps a horse in their basement?" amongst others. The performances by the star cast are so strong that they completely take over what is a fairly ordinary storyline. The excellent directing catches some wonderful moments of real pace during a pedantic day in suburbia which comes alive with the antics of the various characters as they interact with their strange neighbours, the Klopeks. On average I watch this film once a month and still find new angles on the jokes and asides which pepper the script. ... Read More:

VHS : Stir Crazy [1980]
Stir Crazy is the best of the Gene Wilder/Richard Pryor movies. Having recently re-watched it I had forgotten just how funny it was. There are a number of brilliantly realised scenes, particularly in the prison, which for those who remember it from years ago will bring back very happy memories and for the younger generation will introduce you to the best movie comedy double act of the 1970's and 1980's. The highlight of the film is undoubtably Skip (Wilder) and Harry (Pryor) being led to their cell in the prison. Both are acting tough, cool and way over the top and both are hilarious.

Interestingly the two main stars were poles apart in their approach to comedy. Richard Pryor was (sadly deceased in 2005) primarily a brilliant stand-up comedian, ... Read More:

VHS : Car Wash [1976]
this classic film, is a cult comedy of the seventies. very enjoyable to watch from start to finish. combined with an excellent seventies soundtrack with artists such as rose royce, makes it a worthwhile step back in time. although dated in its seventies style especially with serious afros, it still provides humour and entertainment that is dateless in this present day.
thoroughly enjoyable and definately a classic item to have in my film collection !

5.American Yakuza [1993] starring: Viggo Mortensen, Ryo Ishibashi, Michael Nouri, Franklyn Ajaye, Yuji Okumoto

VHS : American Yakuza [1993]
Rented this on the strength of other reviews and was very disappointed. Mostly I was interested in Viggo, and although he was lovely to look at his performance wasn't great - not that he had any kind of a decent script to work with. The premise of the story is pretty unbelieveable and there is neither enough action to make it a great action film nor enough tension to make it a good drama. Not a total waste of an hour and a half but certainly not a great film by a long stretch.
