VHS : Creatures The World Forgot [1971]
The family orientated excitement of Hammer's previous stone age sagas, One Million Years B.C. and, When Dinosaurs ruled the earth, is here, in their final foray into mankinds dawn, given an altogether more adult treatment.
The writer of this last chapter of the trilogy acknowledges that dinosaurs weren't around at the same time as man, and so opts for a gritty realism that sets it well apart from the incorporated animated monsters of their 60's excursions into our primeval past; and in my opinion, the film is all the better for it.
Writer/Producer Michael Carreras has regurgitated the meagre plot line of two tribes warring against each other, but the bones of the film carry more meat than you would think.
We start off amid the ... Read More:

I though this was a great film when I first saw it eleven years ago. I had forgotten all about it until I saw it again this week.

Brilliant acting, great satire, wonderful soundtrack, and a truly frightening and depressing view of America.

VHS : Escape From Alcatraz [1979]
This is a no nonsense, straight forward film that starts suspense early and lasts all the way through. Like another reviewer said, this is a classic Clint role - monosyllabic, distance and hard as nails. I don't think there is much of a soundtrack in this film at all either, which shows how well Seigel and Eastwood produced this film.

VHS : Enough [2002]
this film is a truly out-standing masterpiece in its own right.
We hear so many times how our female population is underminded by males and this film shows just that. That is until jennifer lopez desides its pay back time to her cheating partner.
Filled with intense edge of the seat scenes it makes you realy think diffrently towards females and gets you shouting at the t.v.*go on girl-give him hell as jennifer beats him to a pulp of an inch of his life.

Dont get me wrong, she takes enough beatings from him,but enough is enough and she repays him big time.Hense the film title *enough*
This is a must watch film and highly recommended.
It may be some five years old,but by golly! its about time the female population said ... Read More:

VHS : Invasion Earth - Vol. 2 [1998]
I don't actually dislike 'Invasion: Earth', and that is basically because it imitates everything SF that the BBC has ever done (Quatermass, Doctor Who....etc). No, it's big downfall for me, was the contents of a 'Radio Times' review of the serial at the time of it's airing, which basically rubbished every single piece of SF work the BBC had ever done in the past. Why I don't know, as this is a fairly good routine, with some ok CGI moments - but nothing spectacular.
I notice that it is only available via Region 1, and has only thus so far attained a VHS release in the country of it's origin. Another let down is the ending which leaves a lot of loose ends dangling in the wind, but nonetheless still an ok little serial. One gets the feeling that a sequel ... Read More:

VHS : Silkwood [1984]
Interesting to see the goings on in the plutonium plant and the way the locals were employed in the high tech plant without really knowing the dangers. Obviously most of the workers would not want to see the plant closed as it seemed to have been the main/only employer in the area. I found Miss Streep's acting to be annoying because she was trying too hard to portray a trailer trash image. She is never without a cigarette off duty
and constantly flicking back her hair as if suffering from some tic. It came across to me as being very overacted and artificial ie she was trying too hard. The film dwelt too long on Silkwood's domestic and sexual life without adding much to the story. This aspect could have been drastically cut and made a less boring film.

View this as a whole and you will be left up, down and numb via the film's realism and gritty content. The character depth is so close to reality that you empathize with their situations. I am proud to own this alongside other work by Modine.

VHS : Big Business [1988]
This film is one of the funniest film's EVER!!!!!.
Bette Milder & Lily Tomlin are pure gold to watch.
It's got a really simple plot, In a small town of Jupiter Hollow, two sets of identical twins are born in the same hospital on the same night. One set to a poor local family and the other to a rich family just passing through. Then the story flashes forward to the 1980's where the mismatched sets of twins are about to cross paths following a big business deal to closedown the Jupiter Hollow factory. The film is shot in New York.
Bette Midler is Fxxxing brillant in this film and will have you laughing every second of this film as the poor Sadie,
"Sometime I find Myself So Bored I'm Just Praying For A UFO Sighting And I'll Stand Here And Say 'Come ... Read More:
