Gene Hackman plays the part of real life, Lt.Col.Iceal Hambleton who was apparently one of the US.Army's top "thinkers" during the Vietnam War and who having thought out this particular reconnaissance plan ready for an attack the folllowing day on the Vietcong, insisted on going along on the flight. This was sheer lunacy and should have been blocked immediately by HIS Senior Officers because he was too valuable an officer to lose through either accident or capture. Also he had NEVER SEEN ACTIVE SERVICE IN HIS WHOLE CAREER!Needless to say,his plane was hit,he ejected and countless men lost their lives trying to rescue him. This DVD tells that story and the real Iceal Hambleton US.Army Rtd. has the input into the film.I SHOULD have believed HE WOULD be ... I have loved this movie since I was a child when I first saw it. I tried to keep it on tape as I had recorded it and watches it repeatedly until it was taped over. A warm, moving film that has you in tears. It shows the intricacies of parent/ child relationships and the need for communication. Great cast and a movie that is MISUNDERSTOOD. A movie not to be missed if you are a weepie movie fan.

I have to agree with the other two recent reviews which found this movie less than entertaining. I fell asleep twice watching this - it's technically very good, yes, but entertaining? Certainly not. Give it a miss.

Extraordinary film, well worth even twice the money. A cinematography delight in every respect. Doc Holliday steals the film with his wonderful quirky humour and his enigmatic screen prescence, nearly out-shining Mr Earp himself.

this film is a bad attempt to a superman movie but im sorry after watching superman 3 this seems an academy award winner this isn't as bad as you'd think at least lex luthor is back in this one and superman is fighting a super villian. so if you do buy this film make sure you have seen the third one first then you wont think this is as bad

VHS : Mississippi Burning [1989]
Highly underrated movie that should have won oscars for everything from the direction to the screenplay to the cinematography, to the camera work, to the editing to the haunting and dramatic music score. This film has it all and it all comes off superbly well even if it is a little predictable in places.

This is also Gene Hackman at his stupendous best. A stunning performance that is arguably one of the best of all time--to be honest I like him here even more than I do Brando in the Godfather. He steals every single scene and he knows it, putting a riveting performance in its own right by Willem Defoe almost but not quite in the shade. Hackman's secret could well be that he never gives the impression that he's acting, but that this is for real. A huge ... Read More:

VHS : The Poseidon Adventure [1972]
The original The Poseidon Adventure isn't exactly a film so good that it couldn't stand remaking. The first half hour before the wave hits is like a very badly written episode of The Love Boat, with painfully on the nose dialog ("What kind of priest are you?" "I'm a renegade! The very best kind!") and hideously stereotyped characters. In fact, truth to tell, it's a pretty pedestrian affair even after the ship goes bottom up: strip away its high concept and all you're really left with is a long, slow wade to the grave for some of the characters en route to the cheapest closing sequence ever fobbed off on an audience in a major studio picture. Aside from the odd bit of dialog about the importance of life in the face of death or Gene Hackman's occasional tirades about or against ... Read More:
