VHS : Stella Dallas [1937]
Stella Dallas is a sad tale of a woman who wishes to get on in life but her working class background holds her back. However, the love she has for her only daughter is unrelenting until she finally realises the child will be best with the father. This is a heartbreaking moment and any mother will find it hard to hold back the tears.

I love this movie and cry from beginning to end!

Barbara Stanwyck is truly wonderful as the brash, no style, Stella!

Must have been one of the first great disaster movies. Great preformance from Clarke Gable playing the rouge and his friend the Priest played by Spencer Tracey. The movie centres around the disater of the earth quake that did hit the city in the early 1900s however the build up to the event is brillent and the special effects and footage of the quake as good as anything you would view today. I recommend this movie to all who love a film with a good plot and plenty of action.

I have never written a review before and doubt I will again, but there is so much misunderstanding about this masterpiece that I feel compelled to add my praise and insights.
This is the only film I have ever seen that rivals the complexity of a classic novel.
When first I saw it I was, like most people, rather confused - especially by the ending. It seemed a terrible anticlimax. However my respect for both Depp's choice of script and Polanski as a great film maker left me uneasy in my disappointment; I felt it was far more likely that it was my interpretation and understanding rather than their portrayal that was found wanting. I also had a gnawing sense of having missed something subtle but vitally important. I mulled over the ... Read More:

More than 60 years ago, Japanese forces attacked Pearl Harbor. During the months which followed, the United States struggled to recover as Japanese military victories continued throughout the Pacific. John Ford and Robert Montgomery co-directed and Montgomery also stars as Lieutenant John Brickley. Throughout much of this film, Brickley's squadron only provides courier service between Bataan and Corregidor.
