VHS : The Great Escape [1963]
An early war film before the use of special effects works by it's "acting". These were top escapists who weren't to be denied, how they actually succeeded was through ingenuity, except it came at a cost, namely death and recapture.
The Germans knew they were going to be tested but they hadn't the collective nous to thwart the impending break out/s. Very sanitary in it's portrayal as it lacks an edge apart from the final scene of McQueen trying to outwit his pursuers. Marvellous back drop and having Bronson being a tunnelman afraid of the dark/clostrophobic and the brains of the operation going blind shows how plans can almost backfire.
An excellent cast illuminates this War time drama, a deserved favourite!

VHS : Blott On The Landscape [1985]
At the time of writing this, sadly, this classic and popular comedy drama from the 80's is unavailable on DVD. The dramatisation closely follows Tom Sharpe's excellent book. Ignore the fact that local authority planning doesn't work according to he story, as the plot thickens with every scene, and it's so very very amusing. David Suchet excels as Blott, Geraldine James glows as Lady Maud and George Cole makes an adequate Sir Giles and it's amusing to see Julia McKenzie in a catsuit.

It comes as a two part video set, each episode being around 3 hours long. Watch and enjoy the raunchy fun.

VHS : The Streetfighter [1975]
Bronsons magnum opus.
Bronson is nowt short of brilliant in the central role of a 1930's depression street fighter, who dosen't look beyonmd the 'next corner in the road.' Fans of James Coburn (fight manager) and Strother Martin (trainer) in close support roles wont find reason to complain either. Realistic set piece fight action with a genuine Souther USA period feel as the movie moves to the final showdown fight in a warehouse - clock cards punched out on the wall.

A great film for all the family. A kid who lives next door to me said he had seen funner but i think he needs to get a since of humour because i think this is great. So if you like a film with good comedy buy this.

VHS : Young Guns 2 - Blaze Of Glory [1990]
Young Guns 2 is the sequel to Young Guns it stars Emilo Estevez and Kiefer Sutherland. It starts as Billy the Kid going over his life story about what really happened with him and Pat Garret. The music in the film is really movin and you also get to see Emilio Esevezes bum in a bath scene. I would rate this film as being the best out of the 2 Young Guns, as it stars Kiefer Sutherland and he is my favourite actor. Lou Diamond Phillips is also good in the film as well as Christian Slater.

VHS : Cross Of Iron [1977]
It's too bad that this is not one of Peckinpah's better remembered films. Despite problems with funding during production, the director managed to produce an epic war film that is brilliantly cynical and original. Orson Welles even said that this was the best anti-war film he had ever watched.

Astonishingly Peckinpah decided to shoot the movie from the point of view of German soldiers. Instantly we are rooting for the Germans as the story follows the trevails of this battered German infantry troop on the Russian front during the closing stages of World War II. The troop's brave commander, Sgt. Steiner (James Coburn), becomes locked in a battle of wills with a aristocratic yet cowardly superior officer (Schell) who wishes to gain the German Cross ... I bought this because I have always wanted to own it. It is a brilliant set to watch and you will laugh and laugh, Whoopi is the best at these kind of films with humour and control over the charactor she plays. The highest respect to her.
