VHS : Exorcist 2 - The Heretic [1977]
DVD owners be warned: this remains the superior version of the film. The US and UK DVDs are identical (as is the one in the Exorcist Trilogy box set) and contain the inferior longer version of the film which got a critical slamming in the US. The music is also weaker on the DVD than VHS (being remixed to its detriment and missing some tracks altogether). This VHS is a superior cut to the original UK VHS and (from what I recall) the theatrical version. Obviously the DVd has better picture quality, but the scenes that have been left in the DVD and the music that has been cut out diminish the film enormously. Consequently, this VHS is the way to go for lovers of this 'much maligned by the masses but recognised as genius by the few' film. See my ... Read More:

VHS : Third Rock From The Sun [1996]
3rd Rock from the Sun has become a dedicated cult show which has gone from strength to strength. From their first video outing in 3D, the only place you can see how they filmed the show, to see the episode in full and to see one of the funniest outtakes sequences I've seen on any Video. The extras give the episode that extra edge, along with the 3D sequences, this is a must have for any followers of the Aliens

VHS : Jesus Of Nazareth [1977]

This film does not need many words to describe it.

It chronicles the life of the Messiah and spreads the truth of His words. It is a wonderful film and Robert Powell portrays Christ in the most beautiful, uplifting way imaginable. It brought tears to my eyes on many occasions during the film.

This film should be seen by everyone, it is quite simply breathtaking.

7.Gardens Of Stone [1987] starring: James Caan, Anjelica Huston, James Earl Jones, D.B. Sweeney, Dean Stockwell

VHS : Gardens Of Stone [1987]
Touching and subtle film about the entertwining fates of a group of soldiers and their families and friends, with a real human touch. Deftly handled subjective views reflecting the 60's personal values in the era of the Vietnam War.

Coppola doesn't let the film descend in to patriotic mush, but handles beautifully the characters as they form a family of the likeminded with different views. In many ways this was a trip down memory lane, reminding of many a young soldier I have met. This film is a fine tribute to the memory of their youthful eagerness and the meaning of life as it unfolds in the choices made for and by them.

VHS : Matewan [1987]
It is a rarity these days to see a film that has a social conscience, what with Hollywood more preoccupied with more action and better special effects, so watching this movie feels a little like wallowing in nostalgia. It is a slice of movie as history lesson, written and directed by one of the last humanitarian directors still working today, John Sayles.
Taking as its starting point the labour wars that went on in America during the 1920's, the film deals with the fictional account of a group of West Virginia miners in the town of Matewan. After the Stone Mine Coal Company reduces rates of pay yet again, the miners go on strike, with the result that the company bring in hired guns both to remove the miners from company owned houses, and ...
