VHS : Don't Eat The Neighbours [2002]
This VHS has 4 episodes from the CITV series. The character voices include Robert Lindsay (My Family), Doon MacKichan (Smack the Pony), Tim McInnery (Blackadder) and Simon Callow (Chance in a Million). It follows the fortunes of Rabbit, his daughter Lucy and twin babies, their friend Terrapin and their neighbours Bear, Fox and the new arrivals from Canada, Wolf and his sons, Barry and Simon. The characters are well drawn and the animation which includes puppetry and CGI, is excellent. But where the series excells is in it's script, which will appeal to both young and old. It has the 'slapstick' comedy children will love but also has some great one liners. My six-year old son and I particularly liked the scene where Rabbit becomes concussed and ... Read More:

VHS : Belly [1999]
OK, if you're intereseted in New York rap. Nas, DMX and a insane appearance by Method Man as an off-his head Ghetto assasin. Don't expect great cinema though. Dircted by the same Hype Williams who did those cheesy shiny-suit videos in the mid-nineties, the film itself is a bit of a mess, with nothing to say that Boyz'n'the Hood didn't say almost a decade earlier. While that film meant something, Belly is nothing but a slice of gun porn, played out to a Hip Hop soundtrack...I think Hype Williams needs to stick to his music videos.

VHS : Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets [2002]
This film has a very similar feel to the first movie. It moves at a similar pace and the story is just as mediocre. Its not a bad film by any stretch of the imagination, in fact, when in a certain mood I can happily watch this movie and enjoy it. However, just like the first film, it is nothing special but just about keeps you interested enough to watch the next installment. I like fantasy and escapism movies and although this is not as good as the 'Lord of the Rings' trilogy or as funny as 'stardust' ... it is still better than others such as the terrible Eragorn.

If you like the first film, even just a little, you should like this aswell. Slightly above average movie.

VHS : L.A. Confidential [1997]
Curtis Hanson has managed to direct a film which captures the late 1940's in both style and spirit. Often films depicting the glamourous side of this era immerse themselves too much in the styles and fashions of the time, rendering the actual characters superfluous to the movie. Not here though - the characters drive the film, blending in perfectly with the directing style swaying effortlessly to capture the gritty and the classic-Hollywoodesque, the guy has done his homework.

Risks were taken by casting relatively unknown non-Americans in the two major roles, a rare thing by a Hollywood studio. It's hard to imagine anyone else but Russell Crowe as the fiery `Bud' and at times Guy Pierce seems a bit awkward as `Exley' - but this isn't ... Read More:
