VHS : Wolf [1994]
The opening sequences are beautifully filmed, and the moon and snow look gorgeous. The plot made sense, despite a few quibbles. I doubt anyone could really have found out that much information about animal possession in such a short time. Plus, I really think Laura should wear a hard hat when her horse is going faster than a walk.

It took a bit of mental gymnastics for me to work out that Jack Nicholson was actually playing a good guy. Prunella Scales has a cameo (in a memorable outfit) and David Schwimmer has a bit part. Michelle Pfeiffer conveys not just Laura's self-possession, but also the bleakness of her existence. Near the end, she portrays Laura's strength and confidence very effectively.

However, my ... Read More:

Dr. Daniel Jackson (James Spader of "Wolf" 1994 popularity) does the unthinkable by even suggesting that The Ancient Egyptian Civilization may have been influenced by outside influences, very outside influences. This runs off all inquiries to his theories.

But wait it looks like some one is interested in his cryptology abilities. Catherine Langford (Viveca Lindfors) had a secret that her daddy found years ago. Her secret will change the life of Daniel and Col. Jonathan 'Jack' O'Neil (Kurt Russell). Turns out that they will have a mission that will take them on a sojourn to the other end of the known universe. We go with them. What will we find and will we be able to bet back?

The dialogue is so thin you have to invent a lot of the story for yourself. Good crew with some good performances and just on the Art House side of Soft Porn. Should have been better.

My new ambition in life - get a Secretary.

The movie has a clever sense of humour and a very erotic story line.

My advise to any couples that are on the rocks - get this movie and see if it gives you any ideas.

I have always liked this film, I cannot really say why. Probably because it's the ultimate feel good film with a happy ending. Just the right thing to watch when you want to be cheered up without having to think too much.
It's funny, maybe a bit cheesy and predictable in places but I know, I will watch it again and again. Luckily the eighties outfits are not too over the top, for me this film still watchable nowadays.
I have to agree with a previous review though, the dvd is really cheaply done, it looks as if it was made in the eighties as well!

I adore this movie! I first saw it about 17 years ago when I was 15. I was staying in my best friends house and we rented out this movie because we both had a crush on Andrew McCarthy! Anyway we watched it three times in 24 hours!!
I can't tell you why I loved it so much, but I think I could relate to Andie (Molly Ringwald's character) at the time because I liked to be my own person, not a clone. One of the main reasons that I love this movie is DUCKIE! I love him, yes I fancied Andrew McCarthy at that time (I want to stress AT THAT TIME,NOT NOW!) but when I watch this film, it's Duckie I want Andie to be with and who I would have chosen myself! I know that the film originally ended this way (the right way!)but test audiences didn't like it so they reshot the ... Read More:

I only saw this film the other day so watching it out of era context may have been strange but actually, no, it is still very relevant. The excellent acting of RDJ and James Spader made for uncomfortable watching, especially knowing now what was to come for RDJ in his personal life. The relationships between the three main characters was also well portrayed.
