VHS : Pride and Prejudice (1995)
Im only 17years old and i am obsessed with Jane Austen! Ive watched both versions of Pride and Prejudice as it's my favourite of the Austen collection. I think Keira was better for the character Elizabeth Bennet for certain, but i think Colin firth was amazing at playing darcey as i find him so sexy, but Matthew Macfadyen created more chemistry between them both! I think in the newer version you can see the tension between them both all the time and your just shouting at the tv coz you get frustrated at them both. I think the newer version is sooo much better without a doubt, but the older one if still very good. Id personally prefer the newer one!!!!!

I was actually an extra in this film, so i'm a little biased. If you liked Tenko you will love it. If you like a bit of a chick flick, you'll like it too. Its very moving, and it was fun to make! Cate Blanchett's first film i believe.

3.The Camomile Lawn [1992] starring: Felicity Kendal, Paul Eddington, Oliver Cotton, Jennifer Ehle, Tara Fitzgerald

VHS : The Camomile Lawn [1992]
In this war time drama everybody seems to be doing it - and I don't mean their bit for King and country. Sometimes the events of World War II appear to be used as mere padding for a series of gratuitous sex scenes. This otherwise good war time drama would be considerably improved by the removal of some of the unnecessary breasts and bare bottoms.
"Oh Max, the weather was simply beautiful during the fall of France - let's have sex!!"

VHS : Bedrooms and Hallways [1999]
This is a funny, bizare but overall interesting story, well told and well acted!

If you enjoy campy comedies, which are slightly surreal, very believable and make you almost cry with laughter then this is the one for you!

Comes complete with drum banging men trying to get to love their fellow man! A sex-addict estate agent and his long suffering lover, a man who falls for a straight man only to find his love is recripicated.

It is a great story with great actors! One for any video collection!

VHS : This Year's Love [1999]
This film is almost ten years old but it retains its relevance and interest because of its timeless theme that of the hit and miss elusive search for a soulmate and the false paths taken on the way.The script and acting are first class and the music score (also available on Amazon) is expertly woven into the plot. A classic.

VHS : Possession [2002]
What is it about films like this? They're based on good source material and attract a good cast but when it finally makes it to the screen it seems as if the furniture is putting in a better performance.

With Possession you're left thinking that this was just another opportunity for Gwyneth to showcase her English accent and nothing more and even she's acting a bit like death warmed over.

There's the usual parade of familiar Brit thesps (Tom Hollander, Toby Stephens, Trevor Eve) all acting up a bit too much in tweeds and making Aaron Eckhart look by turns as if he's not making enough effort or everyone else is really hamming it up. Strangely, the scenes you'd think would be worst, ie the flashbacks to Victorian England are by far the best bits with ... Read More:

Although I do have a few reservations about small aspects of this film, overall it is beautifully made and the story well-told through the generations of the Sonnenschein family of Jews, who own a herbal tonic factory and change their names (some of them) to fit in with, first, the encroachingly bourgeois Empire of Austria-Hungary, later, the bloody revolutionary Marxist-Leninist government of Bela Kun, the nationalist government of Admiral Horthy and, finally, the post-WW2 socialist (Communist Party) government installed by Stalin and his successors.

The filming of the beautiful and grandiose buildings of Budapest and elsewhere is breathtaking and a fitting setting for the fencing school and other favourite places of those who would, before 1918, have been termed "K und K" ("Kaiserliche ... Read More:

Everything said by other reviewers about Wilde, Fry and this production are perfectly correct. Wilde has been covered several times in the past and each production tries to portray this complex man according to the standards of the time it is made.

This production is no different. The BBC valiantly steers away from anything remotely genuinely sexual between the men. Which of course is what ruins the film. What is portrayed is largely wrong and the fact that Wilde was mostly involved on a platonic level is never properly developed. Why for example does the BBC always show him fully clothed in bed when his partner is naked? There is a need to dwell on the difference between lust and love between men and this just doesn't happen.

They prefer the viewer to put their own spin on what goes ... Read More:
