this was up to the standard of comedy that you expect from the carry on team, very very funny, and one that is worth watching again, especially at this time of year

VHS : Last Of The Blonde Bombshells [2000]
I saw this film when it first came out on the bbc, and I've been trying to show it to all my friends ever since! Its a really good gentle comedy, full of nostalgia, music, and genuine fun. Watching the interacting relationships - especially within the band, and between Judi Dench and Ian Holm in particular - is always a delight, and the positioning of some of the songs is pure comedy genius. Its been one of my favourite tv films for years, and I only wish the BBC would agree to bring it out on dvd over here, considering it was an English production to start with! Oh well, guess I'll just have to keep pestering them...

VHS : Carry On Camping [1968]
this film isn't exactly what i would call a real classic. sure, it has all the usual actors but it doen't any humourous moments, like some of the other films in the series. The ending is just plain embarissing. it made me cringe.
watch this if you a fan.
My son adores this film, i haven't discovered why yet but i've been watching him very closely and i think that some of the scenes are a little to saturating for him to handle.

VHS : Carry On Cleo [1964]
Everyone seems to rate this film highly, but it is not the best of the 'Carry On's' by far. True it probably is the most lavish, and true, it contains one of the best one liners, in the often quoted 'Infamy, Infamy, they have all got it in for me', but it truly has little else to commend it. Of the historical romps 'Carry on Henry' is funnier, but for the true classics we have to turn to 'Carry on Screaming', Carry on Camping','Carry on up the Khyber', and 'Carry on Don't Lose Your Head', all of which are vastly superior.

VHS : Carry On Screaming [1966]
clearly meant as a spoof on the "hammer" horror films, this is one of my favourite carry ons. the fact that sid james isn't in it does not matter, as harry h. corbett makes for a wonderful replacement as a police officer investigating the disappearances of young women in a local park. corbett's performance is a joy to behold. equally good in the supporting cast, are kenneth williams as the mad scientist, jim dale as the nervous boyfriend of one of the missing women and peter butterworth as corbett's clumsy assistant.
for this particular carry on, a period setting was created and it looks extremely well done.
one hiliarious scene, is when corbett and dale are sharing a double bed when a snake worms its way through. unaware of this, the two ... Read More:

VHS : The Guinea Pig [1948]
Made in 1948, this film illustrates well the preoccupation with class and the re-ordering of a better society that exercised the Post-War years. It is hard not to smile at the cut-glass accents and the failure even of that sterling West-Country boy Bernard Miles, who plays the young Attenbrough's father, to produce a plausible working-class accent. But there hangs over the film the sadness of those who died in battle and determination, even amongst the dinosaurs, to honour them by building a better tomorrow. The film charts the conversion of an idealistic but hidebound housemaster to a view of the world that accepts that the new role of the ruling class is to play midwife to a new order in which the doors of opportunity (and social advancement - aye, ... Now first a brief outline of the story..... First there was a little Scarecrow called Worzel Gummidge (played by the late and great Jon Pertwee) who's job as it happens is to be a scarecrow in Ten Acre Field but he on the other hand has other ideas. He takes every opportunity to leave the crows to have the field and he gets up to many adventures with the help of his two titchy human friends (Sue is played by the late Charlotte Coleman and John played by Jeremy Austin). Worzel was made by his father figure "The Crowman" (played by Geoffrey Bayldon of Catweazle fame) who makes all of the Scarecrows in the land and with a little country magic names them and they come to life. VHS : Carry On - The Screaming Winkles [1975]
The tv series of the early to mid 70's was a mixed bag. Some of the are funny and some of the arent. Even the best ones however are no match for any of the films. The screaming winkles is one of the better televison series, the episode in question has kenneth connor and jack douglas investigating a death at a hotel, and their investigation leads them to all kinds of problems. These tv series arent brilliant, but they are ok, only for carry on fans though I think
