VHS : Of Mice And Men [1992]
Malkovich is once again mesmerising as the tragic but memorable Lennie, a simple minded man born into a cruel world. Senise plays his inseparable buddy and guardian, George, and you feel for him as he struggles hard to cope with looking after the difficult Lennie, mainly because the harsh world doesn't have the time or patience to understand such a man whose behavior can be a little worrying and eccentric. The stretched out wheat fields make a great movie landscape and the mood of the era is quite well defined, it seems. Then you come to the humanity of the famous story, the painful humanity that will not leave you, just as the pain will not leave George, who is forced into making an unenviable decision by circumstances you sort of sense coming. ... VHS : Lone Star [1996]
It's long and slow as a texas summer, and utterly compelling. The performances are intense, sustained and moving, the story is complex and based on a rich understanding of human nature, and the film plays constantly and subtly on the way memory works, the way the past influences the present and how we can take charge of the present despite the past. This film is one of the unsung greats of recent film-making. This film makes mainstream "intelligent" movies like American Beauty seem banal and jejune. I saw it on the big screen and it removed all of us viewers entirely from a rather grubby cinema in Piccadilly to another plane entirely. Buy it, watch it, and watch it again.

VHS : What Lies Beneath [2000]
The `woman in peril' motif has been a staple of film entertainment since forever and What Lies Beneath is a clear addition to the genre. What separates it from many of its counterparts, however, is the sheer quality of both the story and the picture.

Michelle Pfeiffer plays Claire Spencer, a discontented Vermont housewife who begins to feel haunted in her lakeside home and after a few spooky encounters comes to fear that her apparently sinister neighbour may have murdered his wife. The more seriously Claire begins to take her concerns the more anxious her husband, a geneticist on the brink of great acclaim (played with the usual laconic charm by Harrison Ford) becomes for her sanity, until eventually the rift between the two exposes ... VHS : Ali [2002]
This is a decent movie, but not what I expected. The acting and everything regarding the production is good but its the portayal of Ali himself that annoys me. Sure, they show his couragousness, his bravery, his greatness in the ring .... but where is Ali's legendary witt and sense of humour, its simply not there. The most noteable thing about Ali, when watching the interviews he conducted at that time, was his humour, his wit and his sense of fun .... none of that is present in this movie. Instead they portray Ali as a quite subdued and softly spoken individual with none of the personality. Its not Will Smith's fault as he turns in a quality performance ... but the film doesnt capture the man himself and not as we knew him. Obviously there was a lot more ... Read More:

VHS : Crossroads [1986]
The last time I saw this film it was about 1990. This fantastic 80's film seemed to have disappeared into obscurity and any google search for it just brought up that rubbish Britney Spears effort by the same name, so I was over the moon to come across it again on Amazon. I watched the film again recently and was pleased to see that in almost 20 years it has not lost any of its original magic. Brilliant and simple storyline (read other reviews for a full description of what the film is about), set to a fantastic music score. Joe Seneca is excellent as Willie Brown and all the actors give top performances. I love this film and it provoked some poignant memories watching it again. Believe me - if you don't like blues music, this film will change your mind. ... Read More:

VHS : Speed [1994]
A candidate for best action film ever made,Speed has a simple storyline, but really good dialogue, stunts and direction and Dennis Hopper playing one of the most memorable psychopaths in film history. If someone told you the basic plot of speed you would laugh at the idea that viewers would believe it or be entertained by it for 2 hours. But you will believe it and you will be entertained by it. This is probably the movie that Keanu Reeves,Hopper and Sandra Bullock will be remembered for most.

VHS : Paycheck [2004]
Sci-fi actioner directed by John Woo in which square-jawed Ben Affleck pays Michael Jennings, a gifted computer engineer who takes on secretive computer projects for corporations for large sums of cash with one catch: the corporations insist that after completing each assignment he must have his short-term memory wiped so that he remembers nothing of the work that he has done. Each assignment thus far has been short-term, lasting no more than eight weeks, so each time Jennings has had his memory wiped after completing an assignment he has lost no more than eight weeks of his life. But this time he has been offered an assignment by a company called Allcom for which he will be paid $92 million on its completion, enough to set him up for life. The problem? It is a long-term assignment, ... Read More:

VHS : Forever Young [1993]
FOREVER YOUNG, in my opinion, is an excellent drama that will warm your heart and stay with you eternally. When Daniel (Mel Gibson) got thawed out in 1992, I was really shocked. This was because he met and fell in love with Claire (Jamie Lee Curtis). It was sad he had just lost his girlfriend (Isabel Glaser) in 1939, though. I also enjoyed seeing George Wendt (Harry), too. The moment I found out he was in this, I was taken aback. If you ask me, the performances were good, the direction was excellent, and the cast was perfectly chosen. Now, in conclusion, I highly recommend this excellent drama that will warm your heart and stay with you eternally to any Mel Gibson or Jamie Lee Curtis fan who hasn't seen it. You're in for a feel good time, so go to the video store, rent it or buy it, kick ... Read More:

VHS : Executive Decision [1996]
This film folks is very slow to start off with Seagal has a short part in the start and about 20 mins into it you start to think what is going on and then it turns boring with plots and plans not making much progress hardly any action till the end, the only thing that amused me was the asian guys haircut which had us all in tears very funny for us that was, This film is a slow mover which is made to be a suspense thriller which did not work well this film could of had a lot of potential having actors like kurt/Steven but failed to deliver in certain aspects it is ok to pass time but not worth the purchase in my opinion
