VHS : Shrek 2 [2004]
I loved the orignal Shrek so much that this film was a must buy. However, while it is still quite fun it simply cannot live up to its predecessor. The story seems to be a rehash of the first film with Shrek's struggle for acceptance, the switch from ogre to human and donkey's antics. The multitude of fairy-tale characters in the first film seem a bit dull in this one. The Fairy Godmother and Prince Charming are wonderful but many of the other characters don't make the grade. The film is largely saved by Antonio Banderras' Puss in Boots. Overall it's quite nice and worth a watch, but does seem like just another sequel.

VHS : Fawlty Towers - Series 1 & 2 [1975]
A beautifully scripted timeless classic that you never grow tired of. Fawlty Towers is the sort of series you can pop into your machine on a rainy sunday afternoon and it will instantly brighten up your day.

John Cleese and Connie Booth remain legend writers for this masterpiece alone.

It you're yet to see an episode and are buying this item, you're in for a treat.

VHS : Mary Shelley's Frankenstein [1994]
This is an awful adaptation. It bastardizes the essence of Shelley's novel. While the novel nurtures a moral dilemma at its heart, this destroys it. (This cannot be demonstrated better than when the monster rips out Elizabeth's heart, serving as an apt metaphor for the film ripping out the heart of the text). The sympathy for the monster which Shelley really draws on is completely undercut in the film by the monster's portrayal as a cold blooded murderer wanting an unjustified amount of revenge...it ignores the reasons behind his sadness, ignoring the carefully crafted manipulation which Shelley plays with the reader's own preconceived ideas.
Among the monstrosities are the changing of the monster's final speech when Victor had died, which ... Read More:

The 1 star is for the fact that there are no extras on this edition, not the film, which I love (and would probably give 4 stars for).

Get the 2 Disc version instead, it's an absolute joy - tons of great extras!!

VHS : A Fish Called Wanda [1988]
Every so often this one comes out of the collection and like fine vintage wine never fails to surprise and delight! It is simply fabulous. Cleese, Palin, Kline, and of course La Curtis wearing tight jeans! Doesn't she look fabulous? The story is very good, the plot twists, turns, and squirms its way to the finale. There are so many good punchlines, so many good scenes, so many memorable moments that it is too much to describe here. It would spoil it too. Quite simply one of the all time great movies.

These films are hysterically silly and have plots that make no sense whatsoever, however they are classics and anyone who likes mindless comedy should definately watch them.

VHS : Fawlty Towers - Basil The Rat [1975]
Can it really have been as long ago as 1975 when those tears of laughter first started to course down the nation's faces? When people first took to raising their eyebrows and saying `Que?' to one another? That historic year saw the beginning of BBC-TV's unforgettable Fawlty Towers comedies -- even now, try mentioning Barcelona without someone sniggering. The catchphrases endure and the quality of the humour remains unsurpassed. This tape offers three of the best episodes from life at the hotel that doubles as an asylum.

1. COMMUNICATION PROBLEMS
It's not a wise man that entrusts his furtive winnings on the horses to an absent-minded geriatric Major, but Basil was never known for that quality. Parting with those ill-gotten gains was Basil's ... Read More:
