As a professional historian I generally have a strong dislike for military historians. They often become obsessed with the measurement of the shells and the technical aspects of the firepower of the guns to such an extent that they almost seem to be glorifying their usage. nice to see this film on video i last watch this film in the late eighties late at night and have never seen it since would like to have seen the tv series as well bernard cribbins plays a good part and i prefer the early film to the later one although they did keep fairly close to the original story.
