VHS : Dennis [1993]
After my young son watched this film twice in one day I decided to watch with him, at the third showing!. `Dennis` is so typical of all children at that age, and I could see what my son found so amusing as he would tend to do the same things given half the chance. Having a bad guy also helped to keep the story going. For us adults though, Walter Matthau proves to be a real comic genius. Think of `Home Alone` but without Macaulay Culkin, thank goodness!.

VHS : Back To The Future Trilogy [1985]
A personal favourite of mine, I HIGHLY recommend this set, you get 3 dvds each containing digitally restored versions of these excellent movies. The bonus features for disc one are fairly impressive giving an excellent insight into part 1 with original interviews with the cast and crew and new ones with Michael J fox and Robert Zemeckis and co creator Bob Gale. Each movie has a fairly good documentary; other features include surprisingly enjoyable anecdotes that can be played during the movies, which appear like subtitles with a fun fact or trivia concerning the film. There are scarce deleted scenes virtually all of which come in their rough editing format. Based on the special features alone id say MAYBE get the 4-disc set. The 3 disc is great ... Read More:

VHS : Substitute Wife
This film fascinated me. Settlers on an isolated piece of land away from everyone they know. Working up to 18 hours a day the couple have built up a way of life on their farm. Their hopes and dreams are about to be shattered because the wife is terminally ill and has been given the news that soon she will die. The relationship between them, which at first seems so clear cut and male dominated, starts to develop. She threatens her husband that if he splits up the family she will haunt him! She offers to find him a replacement wife and the story unfolds from there. I was moved to tears by the wife's frustration with her failing health and her determination to sort the situation out as best she could. It is an excellent story.

VHS : Back To The Future [1985]
I don't like kids today passing comment on this film. This film is not for them. It is for me, and the many, like me, who saw the film in the cinema in 1985.

It's ironic that a film dealing with going into the past, should inspire, in me, the longing for the eighties that probably equalled many people's longing for the fifties when they first saw it.

For me, everything is pitch perfect. The comedy balances confidently between smart and slapstick and the adventure element is still exciting now. Sure, special effects have come a long way since '85 but it's testament to Zemeckis and Gale that it doesn't really matter. It never was an effects movie anyway.

The real joy is the relationship between Marty and Doc. Oh, and ... Read More:

This film is very bad. Back to the future 1&2 are the best films ever but 3 is really not good. A scientist is not like a scientist here. This film is not a comedy or something else, it is a romantic film and I dont like it. Dont buy it, but buy 1&2 or trilogy box.
