VHS : North By Northwest [1959]
Roger Thornhill (Grant) is mistaken for another man by a group of foreign spies and after a few unfortunate events, finds himself on the run.

North by Northwest is recognized as one of Alfred Hitchcock's finest films and with the adrenaline soaked narrative and a great central performance it is easy to see why.

Cary Grant (Charade) delivers a sensational portrayal of advertising executive Roger Thornhill, a simple man who is mistaken for someone else. Thornhill is wonderfully sarcastic, very charismatic and plaudits must go to Grant who has created an original hero, an ordinary man who turns himself into an action hero within a short space of time in Alfred Hitchcock's wonderfully realistic world.

VHS : The Angry Red Planet
Do not forget that with all of our sophisticated stuff, no one has gone to Mars yet. The year 1959 low budget and high hopes. The greatest threat to earth is a One Eyed, One Horned, Flying, Purple People Eater. And that sure seems strange to me.
However a ship Rocket M-1 was sent to Mars. On its return it must be guided by ground control. Only two survivors. One with a nasty growth and the other Dr. Iris 'Irish' Ryan (with angry red hair.) Now get out your popcorn and hear her tail of what happened on "The Angry Red Planet"

This is a warning to us all.

VHS : The War Of The Worlds [1954]
This DVD release is great. The movie is back in its true glory as only seen when shown on the big screen. Now you can see it in all its Technicolor glory. This movie is based on H.G. Wells classic novel, and is a classic itself. And remember there was no CGI when this was produced. And you will swear you saw a real alien die, as the blood appears to stop pumping through the veins in its arm.

The movie starts off like a newsreel of its time. Showing W.W. I, W.W.II and the war of the future...that leads into the invasion of the Earth by the Martians and the War of the Worlds. They land in what appears to be a Meteor and nothing man can do is able to stop their invasion. We are helpless and it is well portrayed as we follow Dr. Forrester, played by ... Read More:

VHS : The Fortune Cookie [1967]
Excellent film, happily first viewed by myself courtesy of the good old BBC in the 70's, way back when they still showed decent films at Christmas (The Apartment etc) and every bit as enjoyable when watched again this weekend, & heaven knows on how many other occasions over the years!!.
I originally purchased this on the sadly dying Laserdisc format, but migrated when released on DVD for the convenience of not having to wrestle with 2 old disks and four sides. Think MGM have used the very same print for this issue as the minor imperfections in an otherwise superb image appear identical. Just go and buy it and immerse yourself in the fun, not sure why anyone would find the characters annoying, or feel that the film does not really go anywhere. The story ... Read More:
