I love this DVD and it is definitely my most watched drama. I hold it on a pedestal along with the BBC "Pride and Prejudice" drama. My teenage daughters were even won over by the series despite listening to me drone on about it for a few years before they watched it! And that was no mean feat! I have posted a short review of the novel on this site, but actually it was the DVD that I watched first and this inspired me to read the book. I actually prefer the slight alteration to the story as featured on the DVD (with author approval). I cannot recommend the DVD or book enough.

Be Carefull i ordered this dvd from amazon co.uk with much enthusiasm but find that it will not play in an uk dvd player it seems it is only made usa players and i can find nothing on the package or on the screen to tell me it is a region 1? only disc. amazon tell me the returns policy is for unopened disc only ! i will have the discussion when i return from france aaagh the hassle and i have several other films i dare not open now praps u r more computer literate than me but check v carefully good luck

I saw this series on TV and really enjoyed it. It is definately worth seeing.

this movie is so heart warming and beautifully shot. It has made me cry EVERY time i watched it! the actors are brilliant, and Liesel Matthews is fantastic. Its set in the 1940s (but in a way you forget) and sara crew, who lived with her dad in india has to move to America (i think new york) and stay a bording school. her mother died when she was very young, and all she has left of her is a locket (which the evil headteacher takes off her at one point). when the headteacher hears news that her father dies (i get teary at that part) she is made a servant at the school with the other servant girl. The other servant girl is black, and nobody likes her, but sara sees through this and questions the other girls why. they both become best friends. because ... Read More:

Just made my day and brought stunning colour into an ordinary rainy day. I just saw it quite by chance and thought oh goodness this is FANTASTIC!
