VHS : The Lion King [1994]
as i dont have the dvd special edition, i will just review the fantastic film that is The Lion King.

As others have said, it is the best disney film ever. And the only one that can make me cry. When Musafa dies, it is the saddest thing ever. Simba is a true hero and king. The names of the characters are brilliant. you truly want him to come back and claim his place on Pride Rock. And get revenge on his evil uncle scar. A true baddie!! and of course, you have to see this film again and again for the magic that is the duo Timone and Pumba. they are fantastic and so funny! i love them. i love this. thank you disney!

I've always been reluctant of sequels especially the Disney ones. They've never sounded as good.

However we recieved this second hand and my sister decided to watch it..Out of interest once reading the case I decided to sit and watch through it and I was surprised to find it was not as bad as I thought it might.

I do love follow up stories, if they are done properly and this was done very well. An enjoyable follow up to the original and sounds better than the third and some of Disney's latest work. I love story by all accounts, which means it treads the same lines but the history and the consequences of that history is what makes it worthwhile, as is Timon and Pumba who are still as funny if not moreso.

Before I say anything else, I'll say that I enjoyed this 'midquel.' In fact, I think that The Lion King 1 and 1/2 (or 3) should have gone theatrical. It's sweet, funny and the animation is downright gorgeous. Timon and Pumbaa are two of my favourite characters and I can never get enough of them.

But something's missing. It's that nostalgic feel I get when I watch the first two, especially Simba's Pride. It's simply not there. And it's because this was not part of my childhood like the first films were. I have no fond memories of it, since when it came out, I thought I was too old for 'a baby movie like The Lion King,' and so I didn't care for it. It's only when I realised that The Lion King was more than just a mere 'kids movie' was when ... Read More:

VHS : Torch Song Trilogy [1988]
torch song trilogy is an emotional ride from start to finish is has a great cast such as anne bancroft, matthew brodrick,to name but a few,it tells the human story of love and the never ending search for it.
its not just about drag queens and gay people it is a multi-layered story of people trying to find what makes them happy and the journey the main character arnold goes through, this is a powerful film that breaks down the barriers of homophobia and religion and color.
you will laugh and you will cry and you will come away from seeing this movie with the feeling that everything will be ok with the world that arnold lives in and perhaps it may give some people hope......for me its made me want bunnie slippers.

This movie is, for me, one of the most wonderful entertainment I've ever had. Anthony Hopkins makes here an extraordinary performance. It has also a part of documentary as you can see how worked the old machinery used in the early 20th century wellness sanatoriums. The directing is brilliant and accurate. The music matches totally with what appears on the screen. The settings are beautiful and the coordination of all the extras, high numbered in this movie, is absolutely perfect, knowing how hard it is to achieve it. Bravo to Alan Parker and to all the cast and team. I love this movie and I watch it very often. No, no, no: no one paid me to write this review.

VHS : Lion King II, The: Simba's Pride [1998]
I've loved the original Lion King film since I was a young girl and recently saw the sequel to it. I was expecting it to be a disappointment, but it wasn't at all. It wasn't as good as the first one as that would be impossible, but it was the nearest you can get to it. Most of the same characters return and the story follows Kiara, Simba's daughter and heir to the throne, who falls for Kovu, the lion picked to take scar's place and kill Simba. A great film, if you loved the first one you'll like this.

First some info about the DVD. It has an appalling lack of extra goodies. At first you think they forgot to label the DVD. Then you can see from the description ring that one side is for full screen format and the other side is for windscreen format.

This movie is fun from the beginning. Clark Kellogg (Matthew Broderick) narrates the background story. And is the focus of the movie. Clark is going to New York to film school. Upon arrival he loses his luggage in 19 minutes and 11 seconds. I will not go through the detail, as it is more fun to be surprised. However etch scene is so funny that you forget the different layers and depth of the story.

The music alone would be worth the movie: "From Here to Eternity", "I Wanna Be Around", ... Read More:

Inspector Gadget is a Walt Disney release, so straight away I had high hopes for the film. Sadly I was left very disappointed. The first thing I noticed before the film even started is there are no special features at all on the dvd, and considering the purchase price - it came as a surprise. I didn't let this interfere with the film, as I was looking forward to sitting down and watching what I thought was going to be an enjoyable picture. But to my surprise again, the film ended, after a mere seventy five minutes (and five minutes of that was credits) and I was left saying "is that it?" Granted some of the special effects are good, and the talking car is a nice touch which has been done well, but that doesn't compensate for the weak plot, dialogue, shallow ... Read More:
