Though not considered one of the best by Hammer fans, Scars of Dracula is still an enjoyable vampire film. It is dark and violent and at times twisted. Lee himself has said on more than one occasion that this was his least favorite in the series, because of the violent nature of the film, and the acts of torture his character was directed to perform. Yet, it is still very much the Hammer-style film, with luscious, colorful sets, ghothic atmoshere, and great performances by all the actors involved. And in a way, Lee's Dracula here is more frightening than some of his other incarnations, because of his twisted, satanic ways. He gives a feeling that Dracula could indeed originate from the lower regions of hell.

This, the second in Hammer's long running Frankenstein series, starts off where The Curse Of Frankenstein finished, with the Baron on his way to the guilottine. He of course escapes, a hapless priest taking his place.
Three years later, we find him masquerading as Doctor Stein, operating two practices, one for the rich populus, which funds his work with the poor, and also his experiments. With the help of another Doctor, Hans Kleve(Francis Matthews) he attempts to transplant the brain of his physically deformed assistant Karl, into a perfect body. although this isn't a modern film it is still incredible to watch time and time again. one of Ray Harryhausen's greatest pieces of special FX with the hydra, talos and the skelton warriors. if you haven't watched it before it is well worth it.

although this isn't a modern film it is still incredible to watch time and time again. one of Ray Harryhausen's greatest pieces of special FX with the hydra, talos and the skelton warriors. if you haven't watched it before it is well worth it.
