VHS : Doctor Who - The Invasion [1968]
A true classic in the world of Doctor Who. This is the second story to feature the second string arch enemies The Cybermen. The Cybermen were always a more believable foe than the trundling Daleks, their human appearance and weaponry was a more realistic enemy for the doctor and the world. This story is one of Patrick Troughton's best and show his space tramp style at its best. Frazer Hines is his assistant and the story works well even today. Two episodes are lost of this 8 parter and this video features a unique introduction and bridging to help the story make sense. Considering the vhs line is now deleted and the dvd releases are slow, I wouls suggest you tarck down as amny of these clasics as possible, they will always be collectable ... Read More:

VHS : Doctor Who - The Two Doctors [1985]
Always being a fan of when one reincarnation of the Doctor meets another, and being a fan of Colin Baker, I found this particular episode too tempting to miss. The story opens with Patrick Troughton and companion Jamie reasoning with a professor calling himself Distari - a man hell-bent on cracking the secrets of time travel for himself. There is a raid by persons unknown and the last thing Jamie sees is the Doctor being tortured to death in a giant container.

As this happens, the Doctor (Colin Baker) suddenly collapses in the Tardis, feeling himself weaken. The Doctor and Peri must find out what is happening before it is too late for the Doctor(s).

Set in a variety of locations ranging from a space station to Spain ... Read More:

VHS : Doctor Who - Reign Of Terror
This double box set includes the final episodes of Doctor Who that were released on video. The first video consists of the final story from the first season of Doctor Who, entitled The Reign of Terror, and sees the Doctor and his companions arriving at the time of the French Revolution. The second video takes us into the Patrick Troughton's era as the Doctor and consists of The Faceless Ones episodes 1 and 3, and the Web of Fear episode 1 (followed by a few surviving clips from other episodes of the serial.) For me, the highlight of the set is the remaining episode of Web of Fear, with the Yeti lurking in the London Underground. This type of story would ultimately set the scene for other earthbound adventures later in the series.
Sadly, the ... Read More:

This is not as good as the other surviving Troughton stories but its still not bad.If you can get it for cheap on Amazon then give it a try.The Quarks are interesting and although a little padded the story is fun.The main villain in this story is the Dominator Rago who while not riseing to the same level as villains like the Master, the Daleks and the Ice-Warriors is much better than the Invisible Enemy and Kroll probably with Taren Capel and Gavrok.Troughton is good but the Dulcians(aside Cully) are dull and boring. The action is resonable and I like the plan to turn Dulkis into a radioactive source of power.Give The Dominators a chance.

In my opinion this is Doctor Who at his best and got me into Patrick Troughton. It explores the idea of slavery and the effects of a society not allowed to progress with a civilisation, the Gonds, forbidden to study science and acting as "brain food" for the mechanical Krotons. It also has that BBC 60's style about it where script dominates over visuals. A classic!

6.A Family At War - Series 3 starring: Colin Douglas, Barbara Flynn, Lesley Nunnerley, Ian Thompson, John McKelvey

although this isn't a modern film it is still incredible to watch time and time again. one of Ray Harryhausen's greatest pieces of special FX with the hydra, talos and the skelton warriors. if you haven't watched it before it is well worth it.

VHS : Doctor Who - The Five Doctors [1983]
This episode is one of those rare occasions where the then current doctor meets his previous selves. This time its Peter Davison(the 5th doctor)meeting with his other selves.Sadly William Hartnell (the 1st doctor)had passed away by the time this was made,so another actor takes his place. He is no Hartnell, but is adequate .Patrick Troughton(the 2nd doctor)and Jon pertwee reprise their roles with aplomb. The Brigadier puts in an appearance and is his usual self.Unfortunately Tom Baker-the 4th,and best doctor-is only in it for 2 minutes, and doesnt get to meet any of his alter egos.He would have made this episode even better. There is very little plot here, but there are some great scenes involving the daleks, the cybermen, the master and of course, the 5 doctors.
