This is a charming tale of friendship and loyalty with a little romance too. This is a film not just for children but for the whole family to enjoy time after time. Disney's classic 'Lady And The Tramp' is my favourite Disney film, as it contains something for everyone. So add 'Lady And The Tramp' to your Disney classics collection and let it work its way into your heart!

VHS : The Sound Of Music [1965]
If "West Side Story" was the best musical film of the sixties, then "The Sound of Music," adapted from the long-running Broadway musical play about Maria Von Trapp and her singing family, was certainly the most popular...

With a story that includes the right amount of family sentiment (the Von Trapp children never quarrel among themselves), religion (in the Hollywood tradition of serene, kind nuns), romance (actually two romances, one adult, one adolescent), and anti-Nazi feeling (Captain Von Trapp refuses to surrender to the Nazi invaders)--and with director Robert Wise who is in fact a solid, conscientious craftsman and a fluent story-teller mercifully free of grandiose pretensions, "The Sound of Music" is perfect with its sumptuous ... I found this whilst scanning for Victorian / Edwardian period drama and although I was only 11 years old when it was released, can't say I remember it. What can I say? This is a very enjoyable series; I watched one episode a week though it is very difficult not to watch another! I think it is well screened with only a few obvious cardboard cut out scenery shots but this certainly does not detract from the fine acting particularly from Francesca Annis, Anton Rodger, Denis Lill, Peter Egan and Jennie Linden with a few surprise actors and actress' along the way.
I bought this for a great price new and it is packaged very nicely.
I would thoroughly recommend this title if you are into this kind of thing.

This film was the acorn from which sprang the oak of Dixon of Dock Green, the longrunning TV series featuring Sergeant Dixon, amiably wise local uniformed policeman, who always started and ended each episode with a homespun homily. My grandmother never missed. In the film, Dirk Bogarde's young gangster shoots dead the then Police Constable Dixon and is pursued relentlessly but with almost amusing gentility by the Metropolitan Police, who, naturally, capture him in the end. The film is skilfully made and the raffish atmosphere of postwar London brilliantly shown. Ground and aerial shots of the main areas used (Little Venice, Maida Vale, Paddington, North Kensington) are of interest not only to the film buff but to social and architectural historians. As an ex-Little ... Read More:

This isn't really my kind of film, but I found myself enjoying it nonetheless- just a shame that the main character is played by Nabin Chowdry- a really over-rated child actor who thankfully disappeared from the acting scene completely after ruining this otherwise totally pleasant and quite thought-provoking flick. Twiggy and Shirley Maclaine are great, though.
