VHS : Baddiel And Newman - History Today [1992]
In two of their more memorable character roles Rob and David give a blinding performance as they attempt to debate serious historical topics without straying too much from the point. With two of the best comedians ever the video is worth buying just to see them perform together. Very clever, very funny, buy this and you will laugh again and again.

Every character and sketch is shown in this video of their sell-out last ever show. History today, people of restricted seriousness, Jay-jay, the Poltergeist and, of course, David Baddiel's ranting monologues. Classic

VHS : Stand Up-Best of British Comedians
I came across this video by accident, and I'm quite glad I did. Recorded back in 1991, it shows some of the familar faces of British TV comedy, when they were still doing stand-up. Frank Skinner, Jo Brand, Jeff Green and Hatty Hayridge (Red Dwarf's 'Holly') to name a few. There is also the chance to see Steve Coogan as the impressionist he started out as, rather than the 'character comedian' he is now.

None of the jokes seem dated, which is surprising considering this recording is more than 10 years old. Well worth a look if you are a fan of any of these people.

5.Robert Newman - Resistance Is Fertile [2001] starring: Rob Newman

VHS : Robert Newman - Resistance Is Fertile [2001]
In the vein of the late great prophet Bill Hicks, Rob Newman picks up the baton of political comedy from where Bill had to leave it behind. I met Rob a few years ago in Barnstaple, after a gig and this is a lot of the same material he was using then. Anyone who can point out the ridiculous nature of life, and make people question why they do things is worthwile listening to.

VHS : Robert Newman - The Dependence Day Video [1994]
The Mary Whitehouse Experience was a strange combination : a couple of script-writers (Punt and Dennis) provided the wonderful "Milky-Milky" man and pretty much kept to themselves. David Baddiel was a sort of low-rent Ben Elton without the pomposity. "History Today" was probably the last truly funny thing he was involved with before running off to join his close friend Frank Skinner in a series of increasingly desperate and moronic colaborations, culminating in the cringe-inducing LadFest that was "Fantasy Football". Skinner has since pretty much stuck to this formula in a series of attempts to prove he is an all-round entertainer and not just a second-division stand-up. And then there was Rob Newman. The frightening one. The one where you never ... Read More:

VHS : Road to Perdition [2002]
My header says it all, I knew it was going to be good, I mean how could it not be? Tom hanks, Paul Newman.....Jude Law? Without giving too much away, Hanks plays a hit man for the mob lead by Newman, whom is also a father figure to Hanks, favouring him over his own son played by Daniel Craig...

The plot thickens when things turn sour due to the immature and irresponsible actions of Craig which have catastrophic consequences for all involved, especially when the terrifyingly deadly skills of Hanks comes to the fore.

The film however is not all violence, and in fact is truly a heart warming stroy of father and son bonding between Hanks and his son, finding themselves thrust into a situation which neither want, they decide ... Read More:
