Another BBC 'from small to big screen' film from the 70s which saw many sitcoms of the era go for it such as 'The Likely Lads' & 'Are You Being Served?' Among others. What makes this one stand out is that its just the best out of the lot. The writing & acting are combined perfectly to create a viewing that has the humour constant throughout. The legendary Ronnie Barker continues to cement himself as an icon of British comedy as Fletcher which helps make this film stand out. As with most sitcom films the situation is on a grander scale, having Fletcher & Godber stumble upon a prson break attempt & are forced to escape as well, which then forces the dynamic duo having to break back in to Slade Prison, while ... Every morning I wake up and the first thing that goes on the television is my copy of open all hours. This box set is a fantastic combination of good quality comedy and laughter. I would recommend this box set to anyone who is looking for a good laugh.

Harry H. Corbett has always been a favourite of mine; he was a fine and talented actor. Alongside Ronnie Barker and Eric Sykes, set on the canals of England, it would be difficult to find a better setting. An excellent supporting cast, a witty and moral story, I was surprised at how pleasing and enjoyable this film turned out to be. If you want a fun film, with beautiful settings, the feel and romance of "Old" England, this has to be a must watch. I never tire of it, especially the happy ending!

Although I am a fan of Open All Hours, I have to say that I was quite disappointed with this video. In my opinion these aren't some of the best episodes from the series - the highlight is probably seeing Granville trying to dress to impress with disastrous results!
