VHS : Awakenings [1990]
Awakenings is a little known masterpiece that I discovered late one night while channel surfing. I was immediately taken back by the depth of the film and purchased the DVD for a very low price on Amazon the following day. The film stars Robert De Niro and Robin Williams and is based on a non-fictional book written by Oliver Sacks. Awakenings follows Dr Malcolm Sayer who takes up a post at a hospital in New York in 1969. The Doctor played perfectly by Robin Williams, discovers some of his patients - who surivied the 1916 sleeping sickness epidemic can be helped to awaken from their existence as living statues through the use of an experimental drug. The film is moving and powerful with the ability to question how you value the life of others. ... Read More:

VHS : A Christmas Without Snow [1980]
I agree with the previous comment. I find it hard to believe that this could be issued, as the quality is totally abysmal. I enjoyed the movie on TV, but when it came to watching it on this DVD it was a total disappointment.
Are the later issues from a different copy?

4.Humoresque [1946] starring: Joan Crawford, John Garfield, Oscar Levant, J. Carrol Naish, Joan Chandler

VHS : Humoresque [1946]
At last, HUMORESQUE is on DVD in a fairly decent print! This film, made during the mid 1940s classical music craze that gripped Hollywood contemporaneous examples include A SONG TO REMEMBER, DECEPTION [with Bette Davis, actually shot on adjoining stages at Warners!], SONG OF LOVE and RHAPSODY IN BLUE) is one of the best and most elaborate. It is hard to imagine a film like this being made today, with huge tranches of classsical works taking up screen time and being rendered so wonderfully. Crawford is at her most maudlin and overacts sublimely. The real outstanding performance however is John Garfield who, in spite of looking like a hoodlum, convinces as a violin prodigy. The unintentionally funny lines (penned by Clifford Odets, no less, mining ... Read More:

VHS : Catweazle Series 1 Box Set [1970]
"Catweazle" is one of the few children's television series that deserve the epithet "classic". That is to say, the original series filmed in 1969 and starring Geoffrey Bayldon and Robin Davies was. The follow-up series a year later with a completely different cast and setting (apart from Geoffrey Bayldon as Catweazle) was somewhat disappointing by comparison.

This first series sees Catweazle (Geoffrey Bayldon), an incompetent 11th century wizard on the run from the Normans, travelling forward in time as the result of a flying spell that goes wrong. He finds himself at a remote farmhouse in the mid-20th century and is befriended by a boy called Carrot (Robin Davies) who is glad of the companionship of what he regards as an eccentric, but ...
