VHS : Beyond The Poseidon Adventure [1979]
Some spoilers perhaps!

Since the original Poseidon Adventure raked in so much dough, Irwin Allen wanted to get a sequel off the ground right away. It would eventually take him 7 years to get it made and in that space of time it would go through many changes.

To begin with, Beyond the Poseidon Adventure was to star Borgnine, Buttons and the rest of the survivors. After being rescued by the French Coast Guard they were to be transported to safety by train through the French Alps. A tunnel cave-in was to trap them all over again amid other, more sinister, drama.

That idea was soon squashed. Hackman didn't want to return (as Reverend Scott's brother!) and even though poster art was created (you can still find the ... Read More:

VHS : Forrest Gump [1994]
I absolutely love this film! It kept me glued to the screen for the entire film, something which not many films have done to me before. You come to love every single one of the characters, especially Forrest, because of his determination through the whole film.

This film is so many categories, you couldn't fit it into one. It made me both cry and laugh, lots! Though the things that happen with the film are very unlikely, the way it is set out makes it surpisingly believable!

It tells a great story, and even now, 14 years on from when it was released, this is an amazing film for all kinds of people.

VHS : Steel Magnolias [1990]
I have watched this film many, many times over the years and it's still as great as the first time I watched it. A superstar cast brings with it quality acting and a superb script. Don't think I've ever watched it without crying, so if you're a Steel Magnolias virgin, or coming back to it for a repeat viewing - be sure to have the tissues at the ready....
It also has one of my all-time favourite quotes, which is something I live by...
"I'd rather have one moment of wonderful than a lifetime of nothing special" - simply beautiful!

Obviously if you like your no-brainer action car-chase movies, this isn't for you. If you want a simple story of lives and friendships, beautifully written and flawless performances, with depth and character ... Read More:

I have always had a bit of a soft spot for Keither Sutherland, and having watched things such as Flatliners and 24 i suspected his talent was not just visual. This film proves this point well, in this he is an evil, unfeeling monster and is entirely believble.Sally Fields also gives an excellent performance as the mother of one of Keither's rape/murder victims,so horrified at the lack of justice involved that she decides to render her own punishment.I would warn people that some of the scences are disturbing to watch, but i think they are necessary to the film as a whole.

VHS : Mrs Doubtfire [1994]
After throwing a secret party for his son Chris's 12th birthday , Daniel Hillard (Robin Williams) lands himself in hot water with his wife Miranda (Sally Field) and she demands a divorce.

When Miranda wants to hire a housekeeper to look after the children, Daniel is outraged that Miranda would rather let a stranger look after the children than him so with a little help from his make-up artist brother, Daniel turns up to an interview as Mrs Doubtfire, a british nanny who has 15 years experience under her belt and is hired on the spot.

Mrs Doubtfire is a fantastic family film that is funny, sad and touching all at the same time.
