After the tongue in cheek horror of parts I and II,this episode is somewhat of a change in direction for the series.

The story revolves around teenage lovers CURT(J.Trevor Edmond),and JULIE(Melinda Clarke),who witness a bizarre experiment at Curt`s fathers military base.involving the same bio-chemical from the previous two outings.

Things go from bad to worse when Julie is tragically killed and Curt, blinded by love,decides to resurrect her.Before long the doomed lovers are being pursued by both a gang of local hoods, and the military. Leading to a explosive climax inside the zombie-ridden base.

Whilst there's nothing particularly wrong with "The Watermelon Woman" there's nothing to grab hold of and say "Yes, this makes the film great." It's an insipid and slow moving account of life in a black lesbian community in Philadelphia in the 1990s. The main character and film producer Cheryl Dunye embarks on a mission to discover more about a fictional black actor from the early 20th century known as The Watermelon Woman. Her research takes her to meet a variety of people and face a range of attitudes when she discovers that the actor was a lesbian rumoured to have been having an affair with the white director of some of her movies.
