VHS : Sons And Lovers
This is an excellent adaptation of Lawrence's boigraphical work.
If you are not used to Lawrence you will find it hard viewing, full of the mudane bleakness that was victorian working class life. You should not allow this to discourage your viewing however for Lawrence's characters have complex and confusing relationships which hold your attention and potray a need for resolution, you will want to journey through with the characters. She conveys her unrequited ardour and genteel dowdiness with wonderfully comic and touching delight ("Do you have it in black?" she asks having tried a stunningly colourful dress on in a shop). As you would expect in an Edwardian costume drama the sex is more titillating than erotic (and all the better for it), though Douglas Henshall (Cromwell Marsh) lends a charmingly wicked tone to the proceedings ... VHS : Back Home [2001]
I didnt exactly have any high hopes when I started watching this. In fact I thought it was a childrens movie and the only reason I wanted to see it was because Sarah Lancashire is in it and shes according to me one of the best actresses ever.
Now I've never read the book so I cant speak for it BUT this is no childrens movie. Not that young people cant watch it I just think you have to be a little older to apperciate it.
This movie is about england after World War Two,or at least in the end of it. Its about how hard it was for the children to come back home when they'd been living in America for years and for the men coming back to their wifes who had changed some...
The family in this story decided to ship their daughter of to the States when she ... Read More:

VHS : Where The Heart Is
This video is very good, the charcters are very realistic, though a bit predictable. They are very open and obviously based on real characters. The story line is good and shows us that you are not always in control or to blame for everything bad that happens to you.
