VHS : I.D. [1995]
This is by far the best film about football hooligans in my opinion. Although in a lot of parts you don't get to see the actual violence you know whats happening and its the power of the story that grips you. The charactors are really well developed and you feel like you know them by the end of the movie. I'd recommend this movie to anyone.

VHS : Cleopatra [1999]
This production of Cleopatra, intended originally as a miniseries on television, is a reasonably good production with significant differences from the block-buster Hollywood version starring Elizabeth Taylor, Richard Burton and Rex Harrison. Cleopatra here is depicted as someone striving to maintain her own position, not necessarily someone with an eye toward world-wide conquest. Cleopatra is portrayed as an inexperienced person (both sexually and politically) until tutored by the more experienced Romans. She comes to understand her fate is inextricably intertwined with Caesar, then Antony, but her love for Antony keeps her from making the politically expedient move of giving in to Octavian. Apparently two Roman rulers are enough for one lifetime.

VHS : Dog Soldiers [2002]
Ah, Scotland where the free roam, Private Cooper (Kevin Kidd) and his squad of misfits, including the brilliant Spoon set out on a training exercise in the remote highlands but after a SAS trooper is found mauled, the group begin a desperate last stand in a old house against a very hungry pack of werewolves.

The mix of humour and horror make the film a must for horror and comedy fans alike.

VHS : Dirty Weekend [1993]
Michael Winner is back - this time without Charles Bronson, who went on filming DEATH WISH V. This time Winner tells the story from a woman's point of view - and does a good job at it! Descent directing and a quite good story - based on Helen Zahavi's novel of the same title.
The psychological aspect of this movie is a lot better than in most of its kind - Lia Williams is convincing as Bella by portraying her transformation from victim to vigilante. There is some cynical dark humor in this as well - a wink to that end scene of Death Wish 1?
Quite graphic in the depiction of sex and violence, but then again, aren't they all? A few scenes do seem a bit staged (Gun store scene) or remind of other movies (Bella taking out 3 guys in an alley, Bronson ... Read More:

VHS : Event Horizon [1997]

I watched this movie first time in telly about 6-7 years ago and have to add that it was after midnight. There was something in this movie that I could not stop watching it. It is a science fiction horror movie and there was absolutely dark in my room. All I want to say by that, there are a number of moments when I jumped scared. Now I will briefly introduce to this story.

Plot

Event Horizon is a secret project star ship. It Has BEEN equipped with experimental prototype of gravitons engine. Thanks that was able to create an artificial wormhole which bend time and space so travel from point to point lasted nothing (kind of inter-dimensional bridge). In 2040 sent to Neptune to get ready for its first jump to our nearest ... Read More:

VHS : Shopping [1993]
I took a punt on this dvd for a couple of quid, as the blurb on the box and the cast list (Law, Frost, Pertwee, Bean) led me to expect a kind of hard edged futuristic Mad Max thriller. But I was fooled.
How this was ever given an 18 cert I can't imagine, because its actually a kid's film. Badly acted, badly filmed, and incredibly dated (made in 1993 it looks more like 1981) it comes across as one long advert for BMW Motors, which it probably was. Sadie Frost's appalling Ulster accent doesn't help things either.
This is the only dvd i've ever thrown straight in the rubbish bin. It's not even bad in a funny way, it just hurts to watch it. Were the early nineties really this awful?
