VHS : Still Crazy [1998]
I really enjoyed this movie, which worked for me on several levels, or at least across several generations. I was there in the seventies listening to bands like Strange Fruit, and the film got the feel of those times right. Now I'm an old geezer like the band members, and the film got the feel of that right too. Connolly as roadie was a good choice, providing a salty anchor for the sometimes thin narrative.

One thing that seems 'off' about the way the film was promoted is the praise heaped on Mick Jones (Spooky Tooth, Foreigner) and Chris Difford (Squeeze) for the great music. Their names don't even appear in the IMDB listing for the film and I got the impression that the real force behind the music was Steve Donnelly, who is credited with ... Read More:

VHS : Nuts In May [1976]
I had never heard of this film, but I first watched it a couple of years ago and it blew me away. This is now firmly establised as one of my favourite films of all time. Whilst I know that many people will not understand the film, I now actually judge people on whether they like this film or not. I have changed my views on my own friends through watching this superb film. People who do not like this film are simpleton's in my view, and example of this is my friend Wikey. He does not like this film, and therefore I like him less as I know his brain does not have enough capacity to understand the subtle humour this film provides.

It is best to watch this film when you are slightly tipsy, and it always gets me howling with laughter. The funniest moments ... Read More:

Episode 1: This is a great episode in which earth force try and cover up again. Sheridan finds out whats going on from his conspiricy partners on earth. A brilliant plan is formulated and yet again they get away it. Fantastic.

Episode 2: This is an episode in the disguise of a news report. A reporter from ISN is sent to B5 to report on the state of it, in the middle of the Centauri/Narn conflict. She gets in everyones way in this propaganda piece for Earth Gov. Amusing interviews with crew and ambassadors lead to a great watch. Blinding.

VHS : Babylon 5 - Vol. 19 - In The Shadow Of Z'Ha'Dum / Confessions And Lamentations [1994]
In the first episode, Sheridan finds that Morden (Ed Wasser) was on the ship that his wife died on, and also discovers a shocking secret in the process.

This is another episode that is intensive on the arc and boosts it ahead significantly. The interrogation scenes between Morden and Sheridan are very well written, and Bruce Boxleitner gives an excellent performance as the troubled Captain. Wasser does equally well as the sinister Mr Morden.

Towards the end of the episode, Delenn and Kosh come to Sheridan and explain to him the secret of the Shadows, something that has been building since the midpoint of season one. The revelations are exciting and well played out, and this episode is essential to the coming story arcs. An excellent episode, ... Read More:

Ok I'm not supposed to slag off Brideshead, which I've seen many times and like Brass is produced by Granada but Brass really takes the on BH and all the period drama. Full of double entendre and old fashioned decent comedy it would bring a smile to anyone.
