VHS : Michael [1997]
Far better than this meagre release would indicate. Solid performances from everyone, a clever story with a few twists and it's nice to see an unashamedly feel good movie that manages to end without ladling on the syrup factor.

It has been shown on UK TV by Channel 4 in widescreen, so why the R1 1.33 only vanilla release?

We demand a decent DVD release. I'd replace mine like a shot for a good widescreen transfer with a few insights from cast and crew into the making. Some of the scenes out in the countryside on their car journey just scream out for the open vista of widescreen.

And careful not be a spoiler, but I'd love to know whether the need to have main cast members releasing feathers from their ... Read More:

VHS : Saving Private Ryan [1998]
Whatever you think of the story, the fact that one man is seen as so important that a relatively dangerous rescue mission is undertaken , involving ultimate sacrifice, the giving of ones life, to achieve the result. Surely this ist he greatest story ever told, that of Aslan in Narnia too, and Jesus Christ dying on a cross that an individual, namely YOU, can be brought home to safety. Tom Hanks' character, Saptain Miller does this ultimately in the film, and others do so along the way.
But there is more! The concept of grace is also dealt with in the film. Amidst all the anonymous killing, there comes out of the German ranks a gunner who Millers small band decide to release, rather than kill him on the spot. They are too small a force to take ... Read More:

This is about the true story of the kings household staff were formed and sent of to fight during WW1 and the battle of Gallipoli between Britian and Turkey were they met there tragic end. All the acting and the battle scenes respectively are well written and performed but it is both David Jason and Ian Mcdirmid who give brilliant performances and really make this shine. A well done story with charachters who were you could not help but feel for.

I would definitely purchase this for my little girl (that is if I had one), because I've been a little girl myself and I can tell you that this movie holds a place in my heart that is only rivalled by The little Mermaid!

You can't say much bad about this movie, the only things you could critisize would be the ones that makes this movie not QUITE 100% perfect. And that is in the eyes of an adult.

The drawings are beautiful, the story is great and the songs good, so I say this is well worth the money, and urge you to buy it! Every little girl should see this movie!

i remember seeing it in london's ica when it was first released. i think it's bill forsyth's funniest movie, great glasgow dialogue from the boys who just want to be able to live off their 'ill-gotten drains'.

VHS : Tori Amos - The Complete Videos - 1991-1998
This fantastic video features all the Tori videos from Little Earthquakes to From the Choirgirl Hotel.

The video starts with Silent All These Years. Think the piccies inside the album cover of Little Earthquakes. Silent All These Years has always been one of my favourite Tori songs if i have to pick favourites and the video didn't let the song down.

Cornflake Girl was featured twice on the Complete Videos. I thought that the U.S version was much better than the European version. Most the European version was in black and white and i found it quite boring compared to the bright colours of the U.S version. It features Tori driving a truck through a sort of desert thing with some teenage girls in the back. Every so often it goes to a scene with ... Read More:

Some people are put off this film because they don't like Jim 'Manic' Carrey, but strangely, this is a reason to watch the film as he plays a shy boy in this one. Underacting is so much less exhausting than overacting! Kate Winslett plays the bit-above-average American extrovert, and plays it very well, so she reverses her normal refined English rose role too. The genius of the story is the play with the timeline, which twists and loops more than 'Timecop' and 'Pulp Fiction' together. Flashback is the technical term, but this barely begins to describe the new heights to which it is brought.

The story opens with the shy boy waking up, and on a whim, taking the day off work to go to the beach. He does not feel too good, but he does not know why yet. He meets a stranger, ... Read More:

I watched this after reading The Company: A Novel of the CIA by Robert Littell, which follows a similar theme and includes the same group of people. Must say this is an excellent DVD, excellent acting and everything else that has already been mentioned!

Thankfully there is no need to have watched the first movie to get into this sequel. The actual movie is a bit average to put it mildly. OK to watch something you don't have to think about too much, with almost dream-like sets and fight scenes.

The DVD has a few extras, but not a lot. There are some outtakes, which don't really amount to much. Some behind the scenes footage of the stunts and wire work, which are a little boring and then the trailer for the movie.

I bought this DVD mainly to see the late Kevin Smith(as Dogon) as he tragically died after completing the filming of this movie. For all Kevin Smith(Xena/Hercules) fans, there is a touching dedication to him at the end of the movie.

Unfortunately both the movie and the DVD don't really inspire the ... Read More:
