VHS : Peter Pan [1953]
This one is a CLASSIC in his own right!... not kidding...
It has the kind of drawings of the best period of the Disney factory... (not that I did not like RATATOUILLE for exemple... but IT'S NOT THE SAME! level of artistry...).
Of course the Barrie story is a must in his own right (and the "darker" side of Peter Pan in the book has been softened... and that is OK with me!).
The only DVD in my collection from the Disney factory.
As someone has pointed IT DOES NOT AGE WITH TIME!

RECOMMENDED BECAUSE IT IS THE PERFECT DISNEY ANIMATION FILM.

VHS : Cat People [1942]
Says psychiatrist Dr. Louis Judd, author of The Anatomy of Atavism, to Irena Reed, his reluctant patient. He is describing the things they have just talked about. "...and the cat women of your village, too. You told me of them, women who in jealousy or anger or out of their own corrupt passions can change into great cats, like panthers. And if one of these women were to fall in love, and her lover was to kiss her and to take her into his embrace, she would be driven by her own evil to kill him."

For me, this overripe bit of psychiatry from the suave, moth-eaten Tom Conway as Judd is about as good as Cat People gets. The film is a Poverty Row B movie which was made on a shoestring in 1942, when theaters played two-movie bills with cartoons, ... Read More:

VHS : Paradise Alley [1978]
I once had this film taped from the TV. It had different music and sceenes in some places than is in the re-released versions of today. The original version must have been the un-cut version (just wish I still had it). It has just come out on DVD on region 1 (USA) and hope (pray) it comes out on region 2. This is one of the best films I have ever seen. All the leading actors/actresses play their roles perfectly. The witty punchlines/quotes are memorable. If anyone has a copy of the original they don't want, I would be more than greatful.

VHS : I Walked With a Zombie [1943]
"Everything seems beautiful because you don't understand," says Paul Holland (Tom Conway) to nurse Betsy Connell (Frances Dee), on their voyage to Haiti where she will take care of his seriously ill wife. "Those flying fish, they're jumping in terror because bigger fish want to eat them. That luminous water...it takes its gleam from millions of tiny dead bodies, the glitter of putrescence. There's no beauty here, only death and decay." If that attitude isn't enough to be off-putting, Betsy discovers that Holland's "ill" wife is actually a zombie.

This is one of the low-budget horror quickies Val Lewton produced in the Forties and which form the basis of his reputation today. With little money to spend, Lewton and director Jacques Tourneur managed ... Read More:

Great animation, characterization, sound, and imagery rule in "101 Dalmations." It's action, excitement and love, but with a dark theme that's a bit scary.
