this was my first gay film and managed to stay on top of my favorites. The lead actor did a terrific job portraying a priest who is torn between his "duties" and homosexuality. hey, at least his lover was an adult unlike most of the highly publicized real life scandals with children.

I had,until i saw this production of Martin Chuzzlewit by the BBC, never read the book. Being a devout reader of Charles Dickens novels, i don't know how this one escaped me. However,after viewing this superb,outstanding production,i was resolved to read the book. I did! All i can say is that the cast of characters in the production so closely resembled the ones in the book,it was as though Charles Dickens himself was present,overseeing and directing the operation.The characters stepped out of the book before the camera! Remakable! A masterpiece indeed and a triumph for the BBC!

J'avais terriblement envie de revoir le film réalisé par Ang Lee, sorti le 28 Février 1996. Ca fait maintenant quelque chose comme six ou sept visionnages, en français, en VOST, en VO pure, et avec les commentaires audio, plus les scènes coupées, bref, 2h15 à chaque fois de pur bonheur, je ne m'en lasse pas.(Ce que fan veut dire...) Pour les amoureux de Jane, voici un long (très long) billet reprenant quelques points soulevés dans les commentaires audio assurés par Emma Thompson et la productrice Lindsay Doran. This has to be one of my favourite films. Although, it definately helps to be a rock fan (even if not necessarily a KISS fan - as I'm not especially) in order to enjoy this film and relate to these really likable characters. It's not just the comedy that makes this film great. It's that you really care about all four guys, who are brilliantly cast. It's often compared to films like Road Trip and Amercian Pie, but I feel it has alot more depth than films in that genre.

A nice change from the usual heaviness of period drama's, I really enjoyed this. Very light-hearted and some laugh out loud moments. Colin Firth and Rupert Everett work well together and form a funny double act. I was surprised that I actually liked Reece Witherspoon in this as I usually find her a bit irritating. Another great performance from Judi Dench, what period drama is complete without her! Definately worth a watch.

This dark British thriller about a hospital porter who passes himself off as a doctor is one of my all-time top 10 films. I come back to this page now and then to see if it's had a DVD release. Criminally, it has not, and I suppose now it never will.

Some people are put off this film because they don't like Jim 'Manic' Carrey, but strangely, this is a reason to watch the film as he plays a shy boy in this one. Underacting is so much less exhausting than overacting! Kate Winslett plays the bit-above-average American extrovert, and plays it very well, so she reverses her normal refined English rose role too. The genius of the story is the play with the timeline, which twists and loops more than 'Timecop' and 'Pulp Fiction' together. Flashback is the technical term, but this barely begins to describe the new heights to which it is brought. The story opens with the shy boy waking up, and on a whim, taking the day off work to go to the beach. He does not feel too good, but he does not know why yet. He meets a stranger, a forward ...
