To collect money for an investment, Jerry (Macy) sets a fake operation up for the kidnap of his wife, but it doesn't go according to plan. The Coen brothers have made a name for themselves over the past twenty years and this 1996 film, written and directed by the pair cements them into the highest class of different and brilliant filmmakers. The unusual plot opens with "This is based on a true story" when in fact it isn't, which will set the tone for a bizarre but highly intriguing viewing, made even more strange as the plot unfolds and the direction and cinematography are established. I loved this movie, it shows that the underdog always gets the upper hand, and gains respect from the people that that he didnt fit in!!

I was unsure about this film at first; it sounded like a generic teen movie taken a little too far, but upon recommendation of a friend, I watched it at last. Not a moments regret there, I assure you. My face muscles ached from laughing so hard (particularly amusing was seeing Smallville's Lex Luthor a-with hair, and b-in a dress!!) A truly brilliant comedy with, I'll admit, a very silly plot, but nonetheless a gem of a movie (containing, incidentally, the most prefectly timed fall I've EVER seen)
