VHS : Hamlet [1991]
This Play is one of the most important pieces of drama and poetry in Shakespeare's complete works. A cycle of peace and quiet is disturbed by an incestuous crime, both the murder of a brother and the hasty and sensuous marriage of the murderer with the victim's wife, a marriage which is totally against the normal Christian and feudal rules of the time : you are not supposed to covet the wife of your brother. Then havoc falls onto the kingdom of Denmark. Hamlet is forced to play deranged and crazy to save his life and to cover up his violent defense against dangers around him. Ophelia will get deranged to the point of drowning herself. Then the cycle of disturbances will go on to its utter end which means the destruction of all the protagonists. ... Read More:

VHS : The Vicar Of Dibley - The Complete First Series [1994]
What a wonderful, hilarious comedy show, "The Vicar Of Dibley" really was!
I was certainly thrilled to see that there is such a superb release of the show such as this DVD.
What you have here is the complete first series of this wonderful, laugh out loud gem of a comedy under one package at a budget price of which is worth every single penny, believe me!
Dawn French is wonderful as the trendy, chocolate and male loving vicar as are all the rest of the actors who play the weird and wonderful country folk! If you don't love at least one of the characters, something's wrong!
All your favorite early episodes are here and this is a DVD which you'll find yourself playing over again and again which I have done for months.
This is comedy ... Read More:

On buying this initially i though this would be a few of the best episodes but in fact i found out the whole thing was just clips. at first i was disappointed but despite the slow start it turned out to be quite a good video. There is a bonus feature which is 'the real vicars of dibley' which i found a little bit boring but some parts were ok. before each clip dawn french is there describing what happens and how they acted it etc. it's very interesting for every fan! and it features that hilarious clip where she falls in the puddle! a must for every fan! it is a good tape!

Contents of video: 1. The Christmas Lunch Incident. 2. The easter Bunny. 3. Engagement. The antics of the Vicar of Dibley, played by Dawn French, are as funny as ever in this specials edition video, which shows possibly three of the best ever shows. It is certainly a 'must have' addition to the video library of any Dibley fan. Watch as the Vicar's plans for a quiet, chocolate-ful Christmas Day are uprooted by more than one invitation to Christmas Lunch; How she takes to wearing a rabbit costume; And how she manages to pursuade Alice and Hugo to share their first kiss.

Very dated and very BBC.Looks as if it were made on a very tight budget .Stilted. Few of the character engaged this viewers interest.Robert Powell ,George Winter and Trevor Peacock were almost ok.
Battle scenes were laughable though possibly seemed better before people became used to cgi.
The books were better.
