VHS : The Rock [1996]
This is cracking stuff. Plenty of stunts, good one liners, car chases, gunfights - in fact it's pretty much perfect action cinema. A guaranteed good evening's TV.

VHS : Gotti [1996]
I'm actually quite suprised at the relative lack of awareness about this film, well in comparison to other popular mob films. I'm an avid fan of mob films and having read several books on the Gambino crime family I thought this would be an interesting buy-sure was!

My review: Firstly, the cast is simply brilliant- especially Armand Assante. His potrayal of John Gotti is a good reflection of the man himself. It becomes evident that the film is very well researched, which is a real bonus. I was so enticed when watching the film that i didn't realise the 104minutes fly by. The film is sharp, funny at times and very accurate. It leaves you with that feeling of "damn, this really happened, there really was a mafia- there really was a John ... Read More:

OK, turn your brains off and enjoy. Needless to say this is a no-brainer. But Seagal delivers and is fun to watch. The story: a drug addict goes on a killing spree, gunning down the wrong man - Seagal's friend and fellow cop. Seagal goes off the grid to track him down - taking down half of NY City's underground as well. No matter if bare-knuckled or with a shotgun - Seagal knows how to take out the baddies. And this one is a good 90 minutes of good entertainment which never gets boring since it is brilliantly paced. What else do you want in an action movie? Caution though: deserves its 18-Certificate!

erm... well the films are not as good as either of the under siege films, but they are still good films. The martial arts scenes are done exceptionally well, although at times it looks like they put them in just for the sake of it. Hard to Kill is probably the best of the lot, were he has to get revenge on the people who killed his wife. On a whole the package is worth it cos you will be entertained. But dont expect brilliant films, just average ones

5.Stone Cold (1991) starring: Brian Bosworth, Lance Henriksen, William Forsythe, Arabella Holzbog, Sam McMurray
directed by: Craig R. Baxley

VHS : Fanny And Elvis [1999]
I was told to watch this film ages ago...but I am an Elvis fan and somehow..have to confess the title just didn't grip me!!! However, I think Ray Winstone is a superb actor and based on that I watched the film. What a treasure it is too. The scene where Ray and Kerry get it together in the living room and Rays eagerness shows his head nodding faster and faster in agreement to her wishes and the Christmas fairy whirring around on top of the Christmas tree had us in hysterics!! The scene where he opens the bed clothes to welcome Kerry as she stood in the doorway had us girlies "melting" - this man shows such emotion in his eyes! We wanted it to be US!!! The car scene where Ray is upset had us filling up!! What a gem. Just get it and watch it, for every bad review ... Read More:

I can't believe this fim has so many positive reviews, I tried to sit through it last night and gave up after an hour.

If you're expecting someting in the Reservoir Dogs mould you'll be sorely dissapointed, beacuse the film is just dire. And as for the use of language, when you can actually understand what they're saying it's just annoying.

Jimmy the Saint's love story is also a completely unecessary addition to the film, and only adds to its cheesiness.

Give It A Miss....

VHS : Stone Cold [1991]
A friend indavertently taped this for me a few years ago and if I can find it on DVD then I'll buy it. Joe Huff is an unorthodox cop who from the off is in the action foiling a robbery in a supermarket while suspended. He has a bit of a record and the FBI blackmail him into going undercover with a gang of bikers. He gets in but is never quite trusted as the gang have run-ins with the local mob, chopping off one's head in the bargain, hijack a load of P2P and top it off by holding a courtroom hostage to gain revenge for the death of one of their own.

It is action packed and you'll be surprised by the performance by Bishop from Aliens as the leader of the bikers "Chains". I am so glad I watched this unexpected bonus but have watched it several times since. It ... Read More:
