VHS : Anne Of The Thousand Days [1969]
"Anne of the Thousand Days" is a 1969 costume drama directed by Charles Jarrott. The film is based on the Broadway play with the same title of 1948. It had to wait over 20 years to be filmed because the themes of adultery, illegitimacy, and incest would not have been acceptable to the production code. In the main roles are Richard Burton as King Henry VIII and Genevieve Bujold as Anne Boleyn. Irene Papas plays Catherine of Aragon.

The film received 10 Oscar nominations in 1970, but won only one for Best Costume Design. 7 Golden Globe nominations, winning four, including Best Motion Picture Actress -Drama - for Geneviève Bujold and Best Motion Picture - Drama - already indicates this is a great movie. The movie captivates its audience ... Read More:

some weeks ago i came across the gem for under £2 in a second hand shop, and was both horrified at how such a classic story could be priced so low, and also intrigued at how a much earlier, british director would handle the saga.
firstly, it should be made known that this premake/original is missing the final chapters of "the return of the king", which if you have seen the new movies, matters little anyway.
secondly, for the hardcore readers who expect a word-to-word adaptation, you won't find this either. rather, what i would interpret this film as is this: a fairytale, almost disney-esque telling of quite a violent and adult live-action follow up. rather than except peter jackson's empirical trilogy, that is to say, "the one and only ... 8/10. This is the final part of the key to time series of Dr Who feat Tom Baker as the fourth incarnation.
There is a complex story which is excellent and some wicked monsters thanks to the BBC special effects dept of 1979.lol.
Douglas Adams wrote the zany script and it is also the 500th episode.

The Doctor must remain calm as all around him starts to go haywire, even his companions are drawn against him- as the dark mirror hides a sinister being- the Black Guardian.

this is a decent war film but is certainly not a classic , firstly we have got eastwood and burton 2 great actors but the rest of the cast are nobodies and it shows.
secondly the film is set in the snow covered mountains and grey stone castle to say its got wonderful scenery is a false statement its either all white or all grey to my viewing.
the film however is fast paced with plenty of action although it seems quite dated which is strange when you see war films made 10 years earlier that are still very fresh , {bridge on the river kwia} i guess it was a star studded cast and proper scenery that made that film memorable.where eagles dare will surely entertain you for over 2 hours and should be added to your war collection but it isn't in my top 10 war movies.

in my opinion, the film, lolida 2000, was good, the sexual attractions between the stars is great especially jacquiline lovell, she was fantastic. as usual in all soft-porn movies there was no plot, no story and a dull dialogue, but who will care, this movie is especially one for the men only, therefore they will love it. the sex scenes were explosive, it just blew me, but with many sex scenes in this film, that will mean the audience will only concentrate on them, if that was the whole idea the director was looking for.
