VHS : Doctor Who - Terror Of The Autons - 30th Anniversary - 1963-93 - Full Reconstructed Colour Version [1971]
Having recently read Doctor Who Magazine's 'Fact of Fiction' feature on this story, I was compelled to revisit it. Dusting down my copy I poured a glass of wine and settled down to see if time had been kinder to this than it has to many Doctor Who serials from Jon Pertwee's tenure. Happily I discovered that it had - the introduction of The Master provided what was to become the greatest fictional rivalry since Sherlock Holmes and Moriarty; Jo Grant's comedic turn as the Doctor's ditzy new assistant was an instant success and the return of the sinister and malevolent Autons provided the icing on the cake. Particular highlights must include the evil doll waking and attacking the factory boss, The Master's killer chair, the Autons in carnival heads ... Read More:

Eastenders is the nations favourite soap opera.
This VHS brings you inside the world of Walford.
It fetaures many classic moments such as Grant hearing the tape from Phil and Sharon, Phil torching the vic and of cource Den handing Angie divorce papers for a Christmas present!
Eatenders has not been very good in recent years (except for Dens return and Alfie Moon) so buy this and be reminded of the glory years.

VHS : Doctor Who - Carnival Of Monsters [1973]
You won't find this topping many polls. It doesn't have daleks, a god-like foe or a particularly sophisticated take on politics. Why, out of all my huge Doctor Who collection, is it one of my absolute favourites?

Because it's a cracking good story. The central premise of a portable, microscopic zoo is highly innovative, the pace never lets up and the writing is never less than intelligent. It's laugh-out-loud funny (especially the stiff-upper-lip scenes on the boat attacked by a plesiosaur), the dialogue sparkles, and the regulars do very well (watch out also for an early appearance by Ian Marter, later to play companion Harry Sullivan). The Drashigs are also fantastic monsters - I love the way they rise up out of the marshes ... Read More:

I'm an averagely enthusiastic fan of Pertwee/Manning but this was soooo dull. I fell asleep (literally) the first time I tried to watch this and gave up the second. It seems the Green Death is coming out on DVD soon. Wait for that, it's a far better effort if you can get past Jo wanting to marry the idiot at the end.

VHS : Doctor Who Inferno [1963]
This is probably my favourite Doctor Who story ever. Set in aresearch establishment run by shady characters (shades of Quatermass II) the Doctor suspects the worse when a drilling operation goes terribly wrong and he finds himself in an alternative universe run by the military. Wonderful production values and acting from Jon Pertwee and his supporting cast Nicholas Courtney and the lovely Caroline John who was making her final appearance in a Doctor Who story. Needs to be on DVD though to be appreciated fully. Cannot wait for that to appear.

It's a shame the previous reviewer wasn't actually paying much attention when watching this story. The Keller machine yes; Krendler machine..? Afraid I've never heard of it!
This is another highlight from the Barry Letts/John Pertwee era of Doctor Who. Having previously only read the Target novelisation I wasn't quite sure what to expect but was pleasantly surprised. The insidious Master has, using an alter-ego, created a machine that supposedly 'cures' violent criminals and makes them fit for re-integration into society. The Brigadier despatches The Doctor and Jo Grant to witness the first demonstration of the machine in action and they see a hard-core thug become a seemingly sweet and gentle man.
Of course, The Doctor is rightly suspicious, and when ... Read More:
