Am I supposed to find this guy funny or something? I attempted to watch the whole of this film, but ended up bearing the first hour only ... My favourite part? ... when the world most annoying man (Williams) finds himself punched by a GI in the bar. Maybe something meaningful happened in the second half, but I will never know because I was so irritated by the swell headed antics of the desperately unfunny lead character. I dedided to leave early.

VHS : Rain Man [1989]
Dustin Hoffman's performance as the autistic man earns the two stars I've given this film. Otherwise, however, I find it objectionable. It is true that, for reasons still unknown, there are so-called idiots savants, whose disability in one area is balanced out by some splendid capacity in another.
In reality, such abilities are extremely rare. Films such as Rain Man tend to propagate the notion that a defect in one area will have some compensation in another. The truth is that Nature's not as nice as that, far from it. And from that comes disappointment in a disabled person's relatives.
I am disabled myself - with epilepsy, not autism - and am familiar and/or fluent with several languages, including early Greek. Epilepsy, however, ... Read More:

*****POSSIBLE SPOILERS IN MY REVIEW*********

This is in my top 5 greatest ever movies, falling only behind Goodfellas, Stand By Me and Casino.

I watched the film first and then read the book, and I don't think it matters which way you do it because they are both outstanding masterpieces.

This film will make you feel nauseas, it will make you frustrated, angry, upset, relieved and then leave you with a tear in your eye. I challenge you to hate a movie character from any other movie as much as you hate the guards in this film, you will rebel and support a murder in cold blood, and be thankful when the guilty murderers walk free at the end of it. It is a story of revenge, bitter yet just revenge.

I highly ... Read More:

Well I won't go into details about the story, other reviewers have already done this very nicely, I merely just want to endorse the praising reviewers by adding that I totally agree with their opinion about this film in every way - it is really a marvellous adventure, telling the story of Holmes' youth, how he meets Watson for the first time, why he decides later on, to live with the absence of a women in his life and how he comes across his worst enemy Professor Moriarty.

Although the story is not an original of Conan Doyle, it is absolutely a wholehearted one, done with a lot of respect for the original stories, that only a true fan could produce.

All actors are great here and in particular the leading roles - this is an adventure about ... Read More:

I rented this film after seeing actor Ben Foster in the film 'Hostage'. I'd never heard of it before but I'm definitely glad I've seen it. Ben Foster and Adrien Brody star as two brothers from a religious Jewish background in the 1950's. They both encounter relationships and normal teenage things whilst growing up in a racist society. This film tackles many issues and does it perfectly in my opinion. Definitely a film to rent if not to buy!

A true masterpiece of simplicity. Like the paper-clip, a Jackson Pollock or the unfortunate 9/11 attacks. Their ridiculous simplicity is what elates and devastates with such extra vigour. The more base the premise, the harder the impact. Any complexity would be to confuse what is essentially happening here, the unearthing of an oft hidden raw human emotion. An emotion far to complex to convey in words but as rewarding as watching this great cast act out this simple story.
If you ever forget what it is in life that you're after or how to go about it, whether it is love, success, or just basic happiness, this film reminds and installs in us how to maybe, just maybe go about it. A very rare feat for a story based around what for me, and for most internationally I'm ... Read More:

This delicious satire is frightening in the way that it requires only slight exaggeration to spin its absurd scenario. A dream cast is headed by Robert DeNiro and Dustin Hoffman, whose characters are so well drawn that you're sure that they're based on specific people even if you're not sure exactly who they are. If there is anything Hollywood types (Barry Levinson directed, David Mamet co-wrote) love better than lampooning politicians, it's skewering other Hollywood types. And here their aim is dead on. A cautionary tale about media handlers, spin doctors, the entertainment biz and jingoistic pop culture, Wag the Dog should be required viewing before anyone is allowed to buy a feel-good song for a popular cause or to tie a yellow ribbon around anything

No, no, no! I think Mr 'A Customer' also reviewing here picked up the wrong end of the stick, his video tape copy wasn't rewound due to the fact the couple watching it had to hit the sheets mid-movie after watching Michael Douglas and Demi Moore in their intimate clinch; the whipcrack of the g-string removal does stir the blood somewhat!
So, come on, Michael Crichton is no dispstick, and he's written more books-to-movie stories than most author's can wave a stick at, and someone has the gall to say it became boring? Nah, sorry, mate; are you sure you're reviewing the right movie?
Innovative as another reviewer notes in that the 'sexism in the office' tables have been turned in that Demi has accused Michael Douglas of sexual harrasment, (an absolute dream for most blokes, right!), the ... Read More:
